Harold "Kelly" Stark

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Harold “Kelly” Stark, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who left this world on July 16, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on October 12, 1940, in Holden, Missouri, Kelly lived a life overflowing with love, dedication, and service until his last breath, when he was surrounded by his cherished family and beloved companion Timmy.

Kelly was welcomed into the world by his parents, Harry and Opal Stark, who instilled in him the values of hard work and integrity. He is now reunited with them in eternal peace, alongside his brother, Stanley Stark, and sister, Doris Bowlin, who predeceased him.

In Desoto, Kansas, on December 27, 1961, Kelly married, Kay, with whom he shared an extraordinary 65-year journey. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, filled with adventure and an unwavering commitment to one another and their family. Together, they raised three devoted sons: Charlie (Rita) Stark, Mike (Pamela) Stark, and Scott (Anita) Stark, who were the pride and joy of his life.

A man of many talents and a graduate of Holden High School in 1958 and US Trade School in 1963, Kelly found his professional calling in various roles at Lone Star and ultimately as a Chemical Analyst at Ash Grove. Even while maintaining a demanding career, he pursued his passion as an Auto Technician at Sears. His work ethic and dedication were admired by colleagues and family alike.

Kelly’s heart was as big as his love for cars, particularly Chevrolets, a passion he passed on to his sons with great enthusiasm. His knowledge of automobiles was vast, but it was his ability to share that knowledge and his joy in doing so that truly set him apart. When not under the hood of a car, Kelly could often be found camping, boating, or simply enjoying the laughter and company of his family, who meant everything to him. Oh and he never forgot his comb so his hair is looking good.

An active member of the First Baptist of Basehor Church and serving as a Deacon at Rehms Park Southern Baptist Church, Kelly’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. His service to his church and the community reflected his deep commitment to helping others and living a life guided by compassion and kindness.

Kelly leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren: Michelle (Billy) Smith, Tabatha (Brandon) Eckendorf, Ryan Harper, Malory (Josh) Friend, Amanda (Dan) Cole, Tanner (Brenna) Stark, Micheal Stark, and Matthew Stark; and his great-grandchildren: Lily Cole, Mastin Friend, Julian Friend, Emily Smith, Rayna Saheb, Emma Cole, Trea Friend, Owen Cole, Tessa Eckendorf, Beckett Eckendorf, and Dani Cole. Each of them carries forward the lessons and love that Harold imparted with grace and joy.

Kelly Stark's life was a beautiful symphony of love, laughter, and service—a melody that will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him. May his memory forever be a blessing.
