Eldon McDonald

Glen “Eldon” McDonald passed away on August 25, 2026. Eldon was a cherished husband, brother uncle and friend. Eldon was born on March 2, 1936 in Neodesha KS. Eldon earned his Master’s degree in education from Emporia State University. He was a member of Epsilon Pi Tau industrial arts fraternal society. Eldon was a teacher and basketball coach for many years in Bonner Springs, KS. Eldon married Linda Leasure in 1962. She proceeded him in death in 2019. Eldon and Linda had a son, Philip McDonald who proceeded them in death in death in 1999. Eldon married Monica Thunstrom on February 22, 2022. Eldon and Monica had many wonderful adventures over their four years of marriage. Eldon served on the board of directors of the Johnson County fair for many years, and was actively involved in 4H during Philip’s youth.

Eldon is survived by his wife Monica Thunstrom, and stepchildren Janet Kuha and Joseph Thunstrom. He is also survived by his brother Richard (Dot) McDonald, sister Sally (Jim) Miller, nieces Tami (Dusty), Stacey (Dennis), great nieces Alyssa and Breckyn, and great nephew Slade. He is also survived by brother-in-law and adopted son Monty (Jonna) Leasure.

Eldon loved being active where he excelled at many sports. He also liked to hunt, fish, farm, build houses, and the list goes on. He touched many lives as teacher, coach, family member or friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. 

Memorial donations in Eldon's name may be made to Southwest Reservation or Les Feldick Ministries.
