Evelyn P. Eastwood

June 24, 1926 — June 5, 2023

Overland Park

Evelyn Eastwood passed away peacefully with family by her side on 6-5-23 at her home in Overland Park. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Evelyn was born and raised in southern Illinois before moving to the Kansas City area in her high school years. She served as the Christian Education Director at the Overland Park Christian Church from 1954-1977 where she pioneered the children's program. She believed in justice and serving those in need. For many years, she and her husband Bud served at the soup kitchen. In retirement, Evelyn and Bud traveled around the United States in their RV and had many wonderful memories. She always thought of others and knew everyone's special occasion, and would send a Hallmark card without fail. Evelyn loved flowers, especially roses, irises, and lilies. She could often be found out in her yard tending to her flowers even up to the age of 94.

She is survived by many loving family members including 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. We are grateful for the loving support of family, friends, and neighbors, as well as the staff at Glenwood Village and Monarch Hospice.

Visitation services will be held at Amos Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 14th from 6-8pm, and graveside service will be at Ft. Leavenworth Cemetery on Thursday, June 15th at 10 am. Donations may be made to the Overland Park Christian Church, 7600 West 75th St., Overland Park, KS 66204, 913-677-4646.
