Evan Lee Knight was born on April 7th, 1944 in West Frankfort, Illinois. Evan passed away on March 26th, 2023 in Kansas.
A graveside service will be 10:00am, Friday, April 7, 2023 at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd, Leavenworth, KS 66048.
Evan graduated in June, 1962 from Crete-Monee High School in Crete, Illinois and joined the Air Force shortly thereafter. He was stationed at a number of locations during his enlistment, including a tour in Viet Nam at Bien Hoa Airbase from 1964 to 1965, working as a hydraulic specialist of numerous aircraft types.
After leaving the service late in 1965, Evan worked at a variety of jobs, and spent many years in the food service industry and in commercial fishing during his working career.
In retirement, he shared a home with his sister, Betty Duffey, in Grants Pass, Oregon. Recently, he lived in Kansas so he could be close to a beloved friend of 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Knight Jr., his mother Mary, and two younger brothers, Mark A. Knight, and Gary L. Knight, as well as his sister, Betty, who passed away in August of 2021.
His survived by his brother, Paul Knight, who lives in Oregon; his brother, Glen A Knight, who lives in Texas; and two sisters, Shelia Fiorini and Shae Knight, who both reside in Illinois.
Evan loved to read and was also fond of doing crossword puzzles. He was known for his great sense of humor and had the gift of gab. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
