Edward J. VanHercke, 91, of Shawnee, KS passed away Oct. 8, 2014. He was born March 19, 1923 in Lenexa, KS to Raymond and Olivia Flaspohler VanHercke. Edward served in the US Air Corp during World War II. He was united in marriage to Jeanne Braet on Aug. 22, 1946 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Kansas City, KS. Edward was preceded in death by his wife Jeanne VanHercke, granddaughter Kristin VanHercke Kenrick and brothers Raymond and Ken. He is survived by his son Gary VanHercke (Angie), daughter Jan Soetaert (Rick), grandchildren; Denise Houtman, Jennifer Carlson, Matt Soetaert, Gina Schroeder, great-grandchildren; Jacob, Matthew, Victor Riley, Nicholas, Luke, Brady, and Alyssa, sister Nadine Flint, brother Marvin VanHercke, along with many nephews and nieces. Ed will be forever missed by his loving family.

Visitation & Mass

A visitation will be held Sunday Oct. 12th from 3 to 5 pm at the Amos Family Funeral Home & Crematory. The Rosary will be recited at 3:00 pm. Mass will be held Monday, Oct 13, at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
