Edmund Charles Kill passed away peacefully on December 22nd with his older daughter, Dorothy, at his side. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1923, he was active his entire 94 years, but succumbed after a badly broken hip. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Louise Edna Kill, who passed five years ago. Ed and Louise traveled the world together with a passion for learning, meeting people, and experiencing beautiful places. Ed loved his family first and will be so dearly missed by his two daughters, Dorothy Kill Rone and Colleen Patricia Kill; his two granddaughters, Christina Rone and Jessica Rone Neal; his two sons-in-law Kurt Rone and David K. Ringwood; and the family's newest addition, Jessica's husband Dylan Neal. Ed was also a loving uncle to his nephews Wayne Kill, Edmund Kill, Gregg Kill, Dudley Kill, and Martin Davies, and to his niece Debbi Kill.
An accomplished athlete and outdoorsman in his youth, Ed played all manner
of sports, was a river canoe champion, played hockey with his younger brother
Dudley from the time they could walk, and often enjoyed winter camping with his
buddies. After WWII broke out, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy and served
honorably throughout WWII out of Newfoundland aboard HMCS Bowmanville in
the North Atlantic and finishing aboard HMCS Charlottetown in the Pacific.
Ed was a beacon of love, humor, and life wherever he traveled. His life's
work as a consummate salesman began in Winnipeg selling cash registers, and
finished selling pharmaceuticals for GD Searle for over 20 years in Kansas City,
ultimately as a sales manager. With Searle, his successes included winning many
awards and trips - and, of course, the lease of his absolutely favorite auto, the
Lincoln Towncar!
Memorial services will be held on January 13th at Rolling Hills Presbyterian
Church at 9300 Nall Avenue in Overland Park, Kansas, at 1:30 p.m., followed by a
celebration of his life in the Fireside Room.
