Douglas Stine

November 7, 1968 — June 6, 2025

Shawnee

Douglas Alan Stine, known as ‘Doug’, was born on November 7th, 1968, in Kansas City to Dick and Kathy Stine. He passed away at KC Hospice House on June 6th 2025 after a long battle with cancer. He spent most of his time during his illness with his parents under their care. Doug attended Santa Fe Trail Elementary School, Milburn Middle School and graduated from Shawnee Mission North in 1986. He had a great love for sports, especially football, baseball and track and participated during most of his school years.

Doug was always interested in electronics, which showed in his dedication for his work. Originally a technician working in correctional facilities across the midwest, he eventually gathered several certificates and became a field engineer that specialized in repairing large steel cutting machines. Doug always loved to fix things, for his job or for anyone close to him. From his marriage to Mia, they were blessed with two beautiful daughters - Savannah and Sophia. Sadly, Sophia lost her life unexpectedly in 2022. Family has always been extremely important to Doug and he also cared deeply for his many, many friends. It was very easy to to be a friend of Doug’s.

Doug is preceded in death by his nephew Mitch Brandenburg, who passed away in 2024. Doug is survived by his oldest daughter, Savannah, his parents Dick and Kathy Stine, sister Shelly (Bob) Brandenburg, and niece Molly Brandenburg. Doug continues to be survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins, who all love him endlessly. Doug’s family would like to thank you for your kindness and support during this time. It will always be remembered and appreciated.
