Donald Keith Pflumm passed away surrounded by his loving family at his home in Overland Park, KS on June 8, 2026. Don was born to Frank and Evelyn Pflumm of Shawnee, KS, who preceded him in death.
Don grew up in a large family in Shawnee, where he graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest in 1974. Upon the death of his father, Don took over ownership of the family business, Shawnee Mission Builders, and together with his wife, Becky, and son, Keith, successfully led the company for the next 24 years before retiring in August 2024.
Don was larger than life and was passionate about doing the things he loved and sharing that happiness with those around him. Bowling, fishing on North Captiva Island, and many trips to Table Rock Lake were some of his favorite pastimes. He was an avid fan of the Chiefs, Royals, and KU.
Don is preceded in death by his older siblings, Frank Pflumm, Jr., Pamela Pflumm, and Larry Pflumm; his nephew, Larry Pflumm, Jr.; his brother-in-law, Gerard Porter; and his father-in-law, Ronnie Legendre. He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Becky Pflumm of Overland Park, KS; his son, Donald “Keith” Pflumm, Jr. (Danielle) of Stilwell, KS; and his daughter, Karlie Almaraz (Ayracon) of Spring Hill, KS; grandchildren Evelyn Almaraz, Avery Almaraz, Genevieve Almaraz, Lorenzo Almaraz, and Donald Keith Pflumm III (Trey); sisters Tammy Pflumm-James (Mike) of Shawnee, KS, Patricia Stock of Port Aransas, Texas, and Kay Baxter (Rusty) of Newark, Ohio; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who shared in the laughter and memories of his life.
We will celebrate Don’s amazing life on Saturday, June 13th, at Amos Family Funeral Home at 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203, with visitation from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Don will be laid to rest at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Overland Park, KS, immediately following the service.
