Donald "Don" Alfred Boese peacefully passed away on April 14, 2024, at the age of 79, in Olathe, Kansas. He was born December 20th, 1944, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota to Alfred and Charlotte Boese.
In 1964, Don felt a calling to serve his country and enlisted in the military. Don honorably served in the Air Force for 23 years, embodying principles of duty and honor, and attained the rank of Master Sergeant upon retirement. After retiring, Don devoted over two decades to working as a maintenance technician, with his final employment being at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. His unwavering dedication and strong work ethic garnered him the respect of colleagues and the admiration of friends.
On March 16, 1973, Don began a lifelong journey with his beloved Teresa Boese. Together, they shared 51 years of unconditional love, unwavering support, and cherished moments.
Don treasured life's simple joys. In his youth, he flourished as a dedicated bowler. During retirement, he savored peaceful fishing trips, watching sports, Friday night card games with church companions, and tending to his yard. Additionally, the laughter of his grandchildren brought him boundless happiness. Don's faith was an integral part of his life, and he found solace and community as a dedicated member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church for over 30 years.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Charlotte Boese, and his sisters Jan Gallati and Margie Sanders. He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Boese, and their children: Jesse (Leah) Barron, Chris (Gisela) Barron, Troy (Heather) Boese, and Jason Boese. Additionally, Don leaves behind seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish their memories of their dear grandfather and his sisters, Judy (Tom) Seabold and Cheryl Lindeman.
Don will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. His legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. While his physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will endure in the hearts of those who loved him deeply. Rest in peace, Don.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 am, followed by a memorial service at 11, with lunch afterward, on Monday, April 22 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Overland Park. He will be laid to rest at Leavenworth National Cemetery at 2:30 pm on Monday.
