Delois Elizabeth Nelson

DeLois (Dee) Nelson, 93, of Shawnee, KS, passed away, Sunday, September 20, 2020.

Dee was born June 29, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA to Rufus O. Craddock and Elizabeth Hipp Craddock. She attended SMU, Trinity University and UCLA as she worked toward her undergraduate degree and received her Masters in Social Work from Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. She worked as a social worker in various agencies over the early years of her professional life. She retired in 1993 after working for many years for the State of Texas. Since retirement, she volunteered much of her time continuing to serve her community and her church.

She regularly attended and did ministry at Shawnee Mission United Methodist Church in Shawnee, KS. She is survived by her son, Chris Nelson and her daughter, Beth Warlick, her four grandchildren, Geoff, Stefanie, John and Rachel, and seven great grandchildren, Oliver, Izzy Gus, Stella, Ella, Rosemary and Jack.
