David L. Spurgeon

David L. Spurgeon, age 67, of Shawnee, Kansas passed away on September 21, 2025 from a decades long battle with Huntington’s Disease, surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren.

Dave was born January 9, 1958, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Frank J. and Ollivene (Rau) Spurgeon. He married Theresa McAnany on July 21, 1979, in Lenexa, Kansas. Dave loved and enjoyed many things; Nascar, deer hunting, working on cars(changing spark plugs), and his Dodge truck to name a few, but more than anything, he loved his family. In their 46 years together, Dave and Theresa built a life full of strength, faith, and an unshakable love that was instilled in each of their children.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Frank, Chuck, Phil, and Mike Spurgeon. He is survived by his wife, Theresa, children, Justin, Chris, Mary(Sal), Katherine, and Audrey, and his 8 grandchildren; siblings Danny(Suzanne), Sandra(Dan) and Paul; several cherished and loyal in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.

A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00pm, Monday, September 29, 2025 at the Amos Family Funeral Home, followed by a visitation from 6:15 to 8:00pm. Mass will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, September 30th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, followed by burial in St. John's Cemetery, 13322 W. 89th terrace, Lenexa, Kansas.
