David Abel, 69, of Merriam, KS passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the Kansas City Hospice House.

David was born January 26, 1949 to the late Chris and Anne Abel in Atlantic City, New Jersey.  He graduated from Turner High School in 1967.  Shortly after high school, David was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a Virologist at Ft. Sam Houston, TX.  On January 31, 1970, he married Susan King.  After being discharged from the military, David went to work for Children's Mercy Hospital until his retirement in 2009.  He was an avid fisherman, gardener and an excellent bargain hunter, he always knew where to find the best deals.

David is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Susan; a daughter, Christina Hoffman and her husband Jason; a granddaughter, Sydney Hoffman and grandson, Brady Hoffman.

Visitation

Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, February 25th at the Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee.
