Darlene Fay Gillespie. 57, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away Monday, October 20, 2014 at the Kansas City Hospice House.

Darlene was born January 31, 1957 to the late Marvin Henley and Sadie Mae (Martee) Chappell in Kansas City, Kansas. A lifelong Kansas City resident, Darlene attended J.C. Harmon High School. She worked for many years as a collection agent for Convergys in Olathe, KS. Darlene was a fighter, having survived several bouts of breast cancer.

Darlene is also preceded in death by three sisters, Donna LeBow, Opal Halsey and Marlene Savage. She is survived by her three sisters, Brenda Graham and husband Jeffery; Ruby Bailey and Mary Howard; two brothers, Fred Miller and wife Georgia; Ronnie Miller; two sons, Darrell Gillespie, Jr.; Michael Gillespie and seven grandchildren.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 23 at the Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS 66203. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, October 24 at the funeral home, followed with burial in Pleasant View Cemetery.
