Charles W. Schleicher, 82, of Neosho, Missouri, formerly of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away, Monday, April 4, 2011, at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Schleicher was born December 22, 1928, to William H. and Margaret E. Nunnink Schleicher. He was a graduate of Lillis High School in Kansas City, Missouri. He was an Army veteran. He worked as a carpenter in the Shawnee Mission area before his retirement. He moved to Neosho, Missouri in 2001. He was an active member of Project Linus and made a number of blankets and quilts for children in need.
He is survived by his wife, Caroljean Schleicher, of the home. His first wife, Connie Schleicher, of Shawnee, Kansas; three children, Charles and Paula Schleicher, of Lenexa, Kansas, Jill and Steve Haesemeyer, of Merriam, Kansas and Joy and Dirk Haegert, of Emporia, Kansas; five grandchildren, David and Eric Schleicher, Janna and Jason Haegert and Christopher Haesemeyer; two great grandchildren, Ethan and Grace Schleicher; four step-children, Robert and Deborah Lindley, of Little Rock, Arkansas, Valerie and Mike Rhoads, of Cummings, Georgia, Janet and JR Penn, of Neosho, Missouri and Vivian and Mark Douglas, of Neosho, Missouri; nine step-grandchildren, Melissa and Chris Lindley, Holly and Dylan Rhoads, Kyle and Ashley Penn and Caleb, Alyceson and Nate Douglas and six step-great grandchildren, Mike Rhoads, Brady Waltzer, Callie Castleberry, David and Emily Rhoads, and Emmaline Douglas; two brothers, Harold Schleicher, of Kansas City, Missouri and William Schleicher, of Westwood, Kansas. He was preceded in death by a son, David Schleicher and a brother, Richard Schleicher.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Project Linus, c/o Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203.
Visitation and Funeral Service
Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., with burial in Resurrection Cemetery.
