Cecil Miles Oldham

January 6, 1944 — April 5, 2023

Overland Park

Cecil Miles Oldham, 79, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away with family by his side on April 5, 2023.

Cecil was born January 6, 1944. He attended Bonner Springs High School before joining the Navy in 1961 and was deployed to Vietnam to fight for his country.  After returning in 1965 he completed his bachelor’s degree at Emporia State University and went on to complete his master’s degree at Baker University while working at General Motors in Kansas City, Kansas. Cecil held several positions during his successful career at General Motors as well as implementing the skilled trades program that is still thriving today.  He retired from General Motors as the Director of Human Resources after 36 years.

Cecil was an avid golfer for many years.  His favorite thing to do was spend time with his family and friends talking and laughing.  He loved his cat, Ms. Squeaks, almost as much as he loved his family.  He also loved plants and flowers and couldn’t have enough of them. He was a very generous man that loved to make people smile by bringing gifts, flowers or buying them a nice dinner. He will be missed tremendously by all that knew and loved him.

Cecil is preceded in death by his father Alan Oldham, mother Darlene Eskridge and brother Ronnie Eskridge.
He is survived by his stepfather Raymond Eskridge, his sisters Cheryl and Teresa, and his 4 children, Dana Podrebarac (Marijan) of Lenexa, Ryan Oldham (Melisa) of Shawnee, Trisha Riesgo of Overland Park, Derek Oldham of Virginia and five grandchildren, Joshua (Kelsey) Podrebarac, Jared Riesgo, Samuel Oldham, Malachi Oldham and Selah Oldham.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, starting at 2:00 PM at The Peanut located in Downtown Overland Park at 7938 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS. He will be laid to rest by family in a private ceremony on May 1, 2023 at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.
