Carol Sue (Susie) Vogt Young, 79, of Bonner Springs, Kansas passed away peacefully on February 12,2024. Susie was born in Beatrice, Nebraska, the daughter of Vernon and Loretta (Gerhardt) Vogt. She attended school in Beatrice, Nebraska, Lincoln, Nebraska, Overland Park, Kansas and graduated from Shenandoah, Iowa High School in 1962. Susie enjoyed acting and had roles in High School plays and community theatre. Through the years she worked as a nurse’s aide at Union Carbide and as a Sales Representative and Manager for the Yellow Pages in Kansas and Illinois.
Susie had a vibrant and feisty personality. She was known for her sense of humor, her kind heart, and her strong-willed nature. She had a deep love for her family and her most cherished times were spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also had a passion for animals and her best years were spent on an acreage she and Scott bought where they raised horses, goats, ducks, geese, and many dogs and cats and enjoyed gardening with vegetables and flower beds.
Susie was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church growing up and loved attending Sunday School with her grandparents and spending summertime with them on the farm. She was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Overland Park, Kansas.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Scott Young and son, Jeff Pearson.
She is survived by her partner, Richard Moles; her son, James Pearson and partner Susan Niemuth, Edwardsville, Kansas; her daughter, Tera Young Clark and husband Ed, Shawnee, Kansas; sister Peggy Barr and husband Denny, Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren, James Pearson II, Jessica McCarthy and husband Benjamin, Samantha Pearson, Katie Foster, Broderick Niemuth, Bailey Testerman and fiancé Drew Lemmon and Jacob Pearson, great-grandchildren Indigo Chance, Alexandra Burton, Paisley Chance, Danica Burton, Asher Foster, Rosie and Jaxon Clark, and Nova Rose McCarthy.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 at the Amos Family Funeral Home at 1:00pm with burial following at Edwardsville Cemetery. The family suggests, memorials to be made to Great Plains SPCA.
