Betty Jean Roth Warmington

September 21, 1929 — August 14, 2023

Our dear Betty Jean Roth Warmington sadly passed away on August 14, 2023 at the age of 93 years. Born on September 21, 1929 in Clinton, Missouri, Betty spent her childhood with her seven siblings, all who preceded her in death - Ben, Charles, Carl, Marie, Billie, Don & Earl. Betty also thoroughly enjoyed her friendship with her “sister” Donna Phillips. She was lucky enough to find three loves to share her life with, who all preceded her in death - LeRoy Roth, Bob Warmington and Don Lee.

Betty was the best Mother to her five children - Darrel (Cheryl) Roth, Linda (Dan) Mattox, Beth (Greg) King, Michael (Gretchen) Roth and Mark Warmington. She spent most of her days in the bleachers supporting her kids and has been known to have facilitated some of their shenanigans. It may or may not have been her driving a car full of kids away if you were one of the houses that got TP’d in those old Shawnee, Kansas days. Betty did not let her kids go without a single thing. She lovingly made sure they had everything they needed growing up. Betty would have rather sponsored the Cheer Team or watch yet another baseball game than work around the house - and her kids knew she would be there when they looked into the crowd.

Betty is survived by her growing family. Donny (Tamara) Toomay, Michelle (Todd) Zimmerman, Brian (Jennifer) Roth, Jason (Mary) Arehart, Adam Arehart, Scott (Chi) King, Holly (Kevin) Glover, Emily (Drew) Arnold, Jenna, Jessie & Nick Roth all knew her as Grandma! Along with 17 loves that called her Great Grandma/GG and one who knew her as Great-Great Grandma!

Betty had a kindness that she shared, even into the last days of her time here on earth. If you knew her, you loved her. She could muster up a poem for any occasion and enjoyed crocheting. She loved to laugh and sing and didn’t care if she held the tune or not! If you asked her how she was doing, her reply would often be, “Pretty good - well….I may not be good, but I’m pretty!” And she was right. Betty had a house full of family on Holidays when she would create meals that would make our mouths water just thinking about them. When she was asked to share her recipes, it was discovered that they did not exist. Her preparation instructions were - “add milk until it looks right - or add seasoning until it tastes right!” So we try to replicate the meals and memories that she crafted for us - but we’ve yet to master them.

Betty’s life was a life well-lived and we are all better for knowing and loving her. Join us on Saturday, September 23 with a graveside service at Pleasant View Cemetery - 6100 Quivira Road - Shawnee, Kansas at 11am immediately followed with a Celebration of Life at Dub’s Dread Golf Clubhouse 12601 Hollingsworth Road - Kansas City, KS.

If you wish to make a donation in Betty’s honor, we suggest The Shriner’s Children’s Hospital which is where Betty spent many hours “clowning around” to help support kids who need special care.

We will miss you Betty - Mom - Grandma - GG - Great, Great Grandma! Thank you for the legacy you have left with us. We love you!
