Betty G. Johnson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, in Kansas City, Kansas, at the age of 88. Born on October 14, 1936, in Datto, Arkansas, Betty brought light and love to everyone she met throughout her long and fulfilling life.
Betty's journey was marked by her dedication to family, her unwavering faith, and her many passions that enriched both her life and the lives of those around her. A devoted member of Crest Bible Church, she found strength and community in her faith, which guided her through life's challenges and joys.
As a cashier, Betty touched the lives of countless individuals with her warm smile and kind words, embodying the true spirit of service. Outside of work, she found great joy in crocheting, sewing, gardening, and fishing, pursuits that reflected her nurturing spirit and her love for creation.
Betty treasured her role as a loving wife, doting grandmother, and proud great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billie J. Johnson; her daughter, Brenda Joyce Johnson; her parents, Thomas G. Dunn and Nellie M. Glasgow; and siblings Katherine Morley, Ilene Gray, Thomas Dunn Jr., and Horace L. Dunn.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her surviving family: daughters Laquita J. Williams, Betty Haus, Wilma Babcock, and Peggy Stangroom; grandchildren Brandy L. Surber, Sarah Dickerson, Clayton Stangroom Jr., Kalie Stangroom, Joshua Babcock, and Tyler Stangroom; great-grandchildren Samantha Surber, Ben Haus, Hailee Dickerson, Lexie Dickerson, Joselyn Dickerson, and Nicki Dickerson; and great-great-grandchildren Henry Murphy, Maddox Murphy, and Ryder Stangroom.
Services to honor Betty's extraordinary life will be held at Amos Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203. A Celebration of Life will take place on September 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at noon. Following the service, there will be a procession to Shawnee Mission Memorial Gardens, 23215 West 75th Street, Shawnee, KS 66227.
