Barbara Masoner Herren Teepen, 89, of Overland Park, KS. died May 23, 2025. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Dorothy Masoner, siblings Gene, Charles, Carol (Duffley), as well as husbands Mike Herren and Albert Teepen. Barbara is survived by her daughters Patricia Pogue (Bob Burkeen), Joyce Maggard (Frank Maggard), son Robert Herren (Laurie Herren), and their children and spouses. She is also survived by a great-granddaughter and many nephews and nieces.
Barbara attended Center High School in Kansas City, MO through her Junior year until the family moved to Lenexa, KS where she graduated from St. John's Memorial HS in Olathe, KS. She then attended Kansas University where she met and married Mike Herren in 1956.
Barbara worked as a legal secretary in her early years and after Mike's passing in 1977, developed her skills in penmanship to become a calligrapher, ad designer and sign maker for small businesses and retail outlets including Metcalf South Mall. Barbara then decided to pursue a career in Real Estate.
Starting her career at Century 21, she enjoyed her work and coworkers, many of whom she continued to share her social life with. She later moved to a ReMax office on State Line where she met her future husband Al. Barbara and Al married December 29, 1984. She and Al opened ReMax Enterprise in Corporate Woods, then transitioned to Realty Executives. Barbara's last formal employment was as office manager at Akro Fireguard Products in Lenexa, KS.
Barbara loved socializing with her many friends at several regular restaurants especially Wong's and the Longbranch. She collected antiques and inkwells over many years and often treasure and bargain hunted with her friends. She spent her last several years at Overland Park Place, a senior apartment home and Homestead Assisted Living of Lenexa where she made many new friends with staff and other occupants and received excellent care.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 7th, 2025 10 am at Amos Family Funeral Home 10901 Johnson Dr, Shawnee, KS 66203, Service follows at 11am. Private interment at Antioch Pioneer Cemetery.
