Audrey Jo Omundson

With hearts full of love and sorrow, we announce the passing of our precious daughter, Audrey Jo “Joey” Omundson, who passed away peacefully at home on August 3, 2026, in the arms of the family who adored her.

Joey was born on July 31, 2020, at Fort Carson, Colorado. In her six years, she filled the lives of everyone around her with a joy that far outweighed the time she was given. She had a laugh others couldn’t help but share, a boundless imagination, and an uncanny ability to make every day feel like an adventure.

She found wonder everywhere. Joey loved wildlife, especially foxes, flamingos, and just about every critter she could spot. She loved collecting rocks on family adventures, painting, tea parties, dinosaurs, unicorns, dragons, princesses, Bluey, and, of course, all things chocolate. She also had an unexpected fascination with buttons and coins, somehow seeing treasure where most people saw something ordinary. That was Joey—she found magic in the little things.

She was famous among her family for her unbeatable “please face.” With a dramatic pout, a perfectly stuck-out bottom lip, and eyes full of mischief. She had a remarkable talent for convincing Mom, Dad, and her Sisters, that whatever she wanted was exactly what should happen. More often than not, she was successful.

As an Army brat, Joey lived in Colorado, where her love of nature and exploration began. She lived in Louisiana, where she fell in love with the ocean. She lived in Kansas, where she made countless friends.

Her frequent visits to family in Texas and Missouri further fueled her love of adventure. She embraced every new place with curiosity and excitement. To Joey, every road trip was an opportunity for discovery, every walk was a chance to collect another special rock, and every new home held something wonderful waiting to be found.

Throughout the last year, Joey endured countless obstacles. Even so, she refused to let hardship define her. She showed extraordinary resilience. She met each day with a smile that inspired everyone around her. She reminded all who knew her that hope can shine even in the darkest moments.

Joey loved her family, and they loved her beyond measure. She was the cherished daughter of Kevin Gregory Omundson and Victoria Kaitlyn Omundson (Crow), and the beloved little sister of Annabel Eileen Omundson and Adeline Kate Omundson.

On her mother’s side, she leaves behind her Grandpa and Grandma, Cory and Fritzell Crow; her Nonnie and Pappy, Sandra and Eric Milfeld; her Aunt Vivian and Uncle Filbert Hernandez, along with their children, River, Sage, and Nikko; as well as her Uncle Timothy Milfeld.

On her father’s side, she leaves behind her Grampy and Grammy, Eric and Michele Omundson; her Aunt Mallory and Uncle Ryan Lawrence, along with their children, Remington and Roken Lawrence; as well as her Uncle Zachary Omundson.

Joey’s life was not measured by the years she lived but by the love she gave. She taught those around her to slow down, to notice beauty in ordinary things, to laugh often, to love deeply, and to choose joy whenever possible. Her courage will continue to inspire us, her laughter will echo in our memories, and her love will remain with us always.

The world is gentler because Joey was here, and though our hearts are broken, we are endlessly grateful for the gift of being her family.
