Arlene W. Swanson, of Johnson County, Kansas, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026, at the age of 98. Born on June 22, 1928, in Renville County, Minnesota, Arlene lived a full and vibrant life, leaving behind a legacy of love, friendship, and cherished memories.

Arlene was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Lynn and Josephine Wulkan; her sister, Jean; brothers, Lester and Wes; her devoted husband, Einar Swanson; and her son, Mark. She is survived by her loving son, Craig, and his wife, Cheryn, of Shawnee, Kansas, along with many caring nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

A woman of grace and warmth, Arlene found great joy in gardening, where she nurtured life and beauty. She was an avid bridge player, delighting in the camaraderie and strategy of the game. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel widely, gathering stories and experiences that she joyfully shared with friends and family. A social butterfly, Arlene cherished her moments spent with loved ones and friends, engaging in lively conversations and creating lasting bonds.

Arlene was a proud member of the Monticello Community Historical Society, where she engaged with others who shared her passion for preserving the past and enriching the community.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses who attended her at the KU Hospital; and also the staff at Westchester Village of Lenexa.

A visitation for Arlene will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 3:00 PM, followed by a service at 4:00 PM at Amos Family Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a remarkable woman who touched so many lives.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Arlene's memory may be made to The Salvation Army or City Union Mission of Kansas City, organizations close to her heart.

Arlene’s spirit, kindness, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who were privileged to know her. She will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
