Anne Marie Morgan, born December 22, 1965, passed away on January 15, 2026.
Services will be held on Thursday, January 29th at Queen of the Holy Rosary 7023 W. 71st St. Overland Park, KS 66204 Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 AM.
Anne was the daughter of Joyce Morgan and was preceded in death by her sister, Rebecca Dowell.
Anne is survived by her two daughters, Amanda Herrington-O’Leary (husband Patrick O’Leary and son Elliott) and Tawnya Bettis (husband Kalob Bettis and sons Wesley and Marshall). She is also survived by her mother, Joyce Morgan, her siblings Gina Breiland (husband Greg Breiland) and Christopher Morgan (wife Donna Morgan), as well as one niece, three nephews, and one great-nephew.
Anne earned her PhD in Philosophy from the University of Kansas in 2009 and worked as a college professor teaching Logic, Ethics, and other philosophy and women’s studies courses. She deeply valued education and knowledge, and relished in the thoughtful insights and animated discussions with her students in the classroom.
After leaving high school early and obtaining her GED, Anne began college when her daughters were just one and four years old. Through years of persistence and hard work, she completed her doctorate the same year her youngest daughter graduated from high school. This accomplishment – 17 years in the making – illustrates two of her core traits: her determination to see things through, and a dash of stubbornness to keep going.
As a mother, Anne focused on raising her daughters to be kind, strong, and confident in themselves and their abilities. The strength she instilled in them became one of their greatest supports through life’s harder seasons, and something they both remain deeply grateful for. Their childhood was filled with silliness, laughter, and inside jokes that only the three of them understood. Anne took great pride in the women they became, and considered her daughters to be her life's greatest accomplishment.
Music was one of Anne's great joys. She loved to sing, and enjoyed listening to the popular music of her youth–Simon & Garfunkel, Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, and Elvis were particular favorites. Some of her daughters’ favorite memories involve family road trips where the music was turned up and belting was required. Anne believed there was a right way to do a road trip: the car seldom stops, so food, fuel, and bathroom breaks go together, singing must be done with your whole heart, and the rhythm of the music sets the speed of the odometer.
Anne will be remembered for her intellect, her perseverance, and the memories she created with her daughters.
