Alma Jean Kesler

Alma Jean Kesler, 89, passed away December 19, 2015. Artist, wife, mother and teacher, Jean Kesler was born October 3, 1926 and raised in Terre Haute, IN but lived most of her long, happy life in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, where she and Herrick ‘Kes' Kesler, her devoted husband of 67 years, lived since 1956. She completed a Master's Degree in education at the University of Kansas, and taught art at Center High School in Kansas City, MO for 10 years. Her passion was her family, but she was a highly accomplished silversmith, and possessed many of the artistic, design and craft skills of her father, Clark Handley. Mrs. Kesler is survived by her husband Kes, son and daughter Greg and Amy, and her grandchildren Sam, Will and Bridget. She was also a member of the DAR.
