Alfred Lee Jones was born November 29, 1946, to the late James Jones, Jr., and Emer Mae Jones in Gould, Arkansas. He departed this life on Monday, March 23, 2026 at his home in Overland Park, Kansas.
He confessed a belief in Christ at an early age and united with the Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Gould, Arkansas. Brother Jones was very active with the church ministries: Usher, Sunday School, Sunday School Superintendent, active in Bible Study, Vacation Bible School, Male Choir, Bus Ministry, a trustee, and he was always ready to help when needed.
Alfred graduated from Fields High School in Gould, Arkansas, and continued his education at AM&N College in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He earned a degree from the Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock, Arkansas. Alfred was awarded a diploma for the successful completion of the program of study in maintenance mechanic from International Correspondence Schools.
Alfred was very active in all sports in high school and enjoyed a cutting his friend’s hair, he was a very good barber.
In 1970 he married his high school sweetheart, Ozella Jones. To this union two sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Jones, Jr., and Emer Mae Weston Jones; six brothers, Lee Roy Jones., Sr., Theodore Jones, Sr., James Jones, III, Joe Nathan Jones, Sr., Freddie Lee Jones, Leonard Jones, and Melvin Ray Jones; one brother-in-law, Willie (Buster) Conyer; and one sister, Sharon Jones Refeld.
Alfred is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ozella Jones; two sons, Darrell and Vincent (Monakisha); three grandchildren, Kayla, Keira, and Briana; one God granddaughter, Dani Bell; Thad Redding; three Godsons, Alexis (Patricia) Cole, Arerie (Annie) Cole, and Aaron (Shantal) Cole; one brother, Earl Jay Jones; two sisters, Eddye Ruth Jones and Bettye Jones Conyer; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Homegoing services will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 10:00 am at the Amos Family Funeral Home following interment will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery at 12:30 pm.
