On September 4th, 2025, Alden Warkentin went to be with his savior Jesus Christ and his beloved wife Barbara.
Alden was born on November 10, 1930, in Wichita Kansas to Rudolph and Agnes Warkentin. He graduated from Wichita East High School in 1948 and Bethel College in 1952 where he starred on his college football team on both sides of the ball. 'No one delivered a blow harder than Alden,' a quote from many of his opponents. He worked hard at his vocation in the printing industry and then with Boeing as an industrial engineer.
Alden accepted Christ in baptism on June 18th of 1944 and shared his faith with his bride Barbara (Linscheid) Warkentin who he married on July 13th, 1957.
He is preceded in his death by his wife Barbara and survived by his two daughters Mavis (Paul) Griesemer and Valerie (Randy) Husman who were his greatest source of pride, three granddaughters, Kristen (Brian) Godsey, Nedra (Sky) Williams, and Jessica (Caiti) Repola and three great grandchildren, Braelynn, Jane, and Blakely. He is also mourned by his brother-in-law Paul Linscheid and his two daughters Joy Linscheid-Nolan, Andrea (Fernando) Ortiz, and their daughters, Alison, Sophia, and Kaitlyn.
On September 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., a memorial service will be held at Hope Mennonite Church, 868 N. Maize Rd. Wichita, KS. To honor Alden's request, donations can be made to the Hope Memorial Garden Fund.
