Mark Vincent Meyer peacefully passed away on February 3rd, 2024 at his home with his family at his side. Mark was born on May 7th, 1960 in Kansas City, Kansas to Ronald and Carolyn Meyer of Prairie Village, Kansas.
Mark graduated from F.L. Schlagle High School in 1978. After graduation he went on to work in several different grocery stores. Upon transferring to the Food Barn in Olathe he met the love of his life, Allison, in the summer of 1985. In March of 1986 Mark started his 34 year career with Federal Express. Mark and Allison were married June 27th, 1987 and had their son, Nicholas, in 1989 and daughter, Kelsey, in 1992. As a family, they spent many weekends camping at Pomona Lake. They also spent countless weekends cooking out, listening to music, and enjoying time together at their home with friends and family. Mark always had a project whether it was repairing small engines, building a dune buggy, working on his 1978 Corvette, or one of his many home improvement projects. There was never a tool or gadget that he did not have. Another one of Mark’s favorite hobbies was trout fishing at Bennett Spring. In retirement, Mark enjoyed working in the warehouse for Giving the Basics. Above all else, being “Papa” to his 5 little ladies was his greatest joy.
Mark is survived by his wife, Allison, of 36 and a half years, his son, Nicholas (Samantha) Meyer, his daughter Kelsey (Robert) Kessler, his five granddaughters, Andie, Riese, Leighton, Logan and Lainey, his mother Carolyn, and his two brothers, Rick (Susan) and RL.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Meyer.
Services will be held on Tuesday, February 13th, 2024 at New City Church, 7230 Quivira Road, Shawnee Kansas. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 5:30pm followed by a Celebration of Life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mark’s honor to Giving the Basics.
