Donna "Jean" Ballard

Donna Jean Ballard, affectionately known as Jean, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2024, at Overland Park Regional Hospital. She was born on August 27, 1931, in Iola, Kansas. Jean was 92 years old at the time of her passing.

Jean dedicated over 30 years of her life as an Administrative Assistant at Herff Jones. Her work ethic and commitment to her career were admired by all who knew her. Outside of work, Jean found joy in traveling, attending Chiefs games, and being a loyal Chiefs season ticket holder for 40 years. Her greatest passion, however, was spending time with her beloved family. Throughout her life, Jean was an active member of various organizations, including the Military Wives Club and Village Presbyterian Church. She cherished the community and friendships she formed through these connections.

Jean is preceded in death by her loving husband, Wilbur Carl Ballard Sr., with whom she enjoyed 45 years of marriage. She is also reunited with her father, Ralph N. Vaughn, mother, Alice N. Vaughn (Dille), sister-in-law, Ruthe Vaughn, brother, Colonel Robert D. Vaughn, and sister-in-law, Doris Vaughn.

Jean leaves behind her Brother John Vaughn. Son, Wilbur C. Ballard Jr. and his wife Nancy. Daughter, Pamela J. Jordan (Ballard), and her husband Rick. She is also survived by her Granddaughters Carly Smith and her husband Chad, Kate Willis, and her great-grandchildren Locke, Harper, Grace, Sawyer, and Beau. Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Jean's life will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2024 1:00pm at Amos Funeral Home with a reception to follow. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
