  4. Connie Basel Says:

Ernie was one of the first people I met at Hillcrest. We were in the same Home Group and shared many happy times together. I especially remember serving with her on Cradle Roll. She helped me as a young mom and when I went back to work on a short term basis she willingly babysat my daughter. Laura loved Ernie and loved going to her house. In fact she loved her so much that she wanted to name our next baby Ernie. I did talk her out of that.
Over the years we lost contact with each other, but I’ve never forgotten Ernie and the positive influence she had on my life.

Our very deepest sympathy to the entire family!!! We have always had very deep feelings for Ernie and you also Pastor Dick. We so wish we could be there to give our support in this great loss. You both have done so much for our family in more ways then you will every know. If it was sitting with us during surgeries, giving us comfort in the loss of family members, praying for us during many health issues you both were there. Ernie was Gloria’s mentor when going thru cancer. We also had many good laughs together camping at Branch Oak with the church family from Swedeburg. We still remember Ernie kicking the can around the camp ground to make ice cream. Well we could go on and on with all our memories. Please know that you Pastor and your family will be in our prays at this most difficult time. With sorrow in our hearts for the great loss. We want you to know we truly care!!! Prayers and Love going your way !!! Byron and Gloria
