We are so very sorry for this tragic loss. Our hearts are with your family, and especially Erin and his sons. I work at Olathe East, and he had a huge impact on so many students here, and they are very much mourning his loss, and having a hard time adjusting to this new reality. It was touching to see a roomful of 25-30 kids on Monday gather to support one another and to tell wonderful stories about their memories and experiences with Mr. Allen. Lori Ludwig told the kids that they need to remember all their stories to tell his sons someday, and to let them know what a positive impact he had on all of their lives. Our thoughts and prayers and condolences are with all of you in this difficult time.

  4. Hattie Rolston Says:

    Erin and Boys,
I can’t imagine what you are feeling right now. The pain, the loss. Words can’t describe how sorry I am and how much I wish I could be there to hug you. Know that you are all loved and I know the support you have around you right now, while it won’t ease the pain it will make it bearable.
All of my love and thoughts are with you as you struggle through this dark time in your lives.
    love,
    Carrie, Jason and the Kids.

  9. Marty Hansen Says:

My entire family hurts for you and your sons sudden tragic loss Erin.

Your husband, “Mr. Allen” had a tremendous impact on my son MJ, both in his art and the classes he took with Mr. Allen. MJ loved being Mr. Allen’s student assistant his senior year. My son is a freshman now at Nebraska Wesleyan University with a huge art scholarship studying to be a visual arts educator (like Mr. Allen & myself). Mr Allen was a wonderful male role model who truly showed interest in my son and his art. He is greatly missed and will never be forgotten.

    Most sincere condolences,
    Marty, Laura, & MJ Hansen

I am feeling sad hearing the news.
I believe it is the journey of the soul and we do not always know the reason of what happens in our lives.
I pray for the family to be able to withstand the loss and pray for the soul for the journey towards eternity.

  13. Courtney Bachelor Says:

    Erin, Carson, and Llewynn,
I’m so incredibly sorry for your loss. Mr. Allen wasn’t only the best teacher I’ve ever had, but he became an amazing friend over the four years I was blessed enough to know him. He always went above and beyond what was required of a teacher, and from the way he’d always brag about you all and show off pictures of the boys, I imagine he did just the same for his family. He was truly the goofiest and most caring person I have ever known. I can’t begin to describe the impact he had on my life, but I know East will never be the same without him. My heart hasn’t stopped aching since I heard the news, so I can’t even begin to imagine what you all must be going through. I know there are no words to make sense of what has happened or make everything okay again, but I will continue to pray that you and the rest of your family find comfort and peace somewhere in this incredibly difficult time.
