Rusty Scott Hovick

Rusty Scott Hovick was born on June 27, 1979 in Ames, Iowa to Kenny and Linda Hovick of Story City, Iowa.  Rusty was the third of three children.  Rusty and his family resided in Marshalltown, Iowa; Harlan, Iowa; and Williams, Iowa, as he moved with his family for their hotel business.  Rusty graduated from Northeast Hamilton High School in 1997, and then continued his education at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.  Rusty graduated from Iowa State with a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems in May of 2002.  Rusty began working at Cerner Corporation in Kansas City, Missouri in 2002 through current, where he performed hospital system implementations, support, and management.  Rusty lived in New York City for several years while working for Cerner, then relocated to the Kansas City headquarters in 2008.  While in Kansas City, he purchased his first home where he lived with his beloved dogs Murphy and Minnie.  Rusty also enjoyed volunteering at Wayside Waifs, a local animal shelter. Rusty is survived by his mother and father, Kenny and Linda Hovick of Ames, Iowa, his sister Macy (Hovick) Jacobsen (Tim) and nephews Donald, Brad, and Brody Jacobsen of Stilwell, Kansas; his sister Meredith (Hovick) Klug (Scott) and nieces Catelyn, Morgan, and Reagan Klug of Saint Charles, Illinois; and his grandmother Evelyn Hovick of Story City, Iowa.Rusty was beloved by all of his family and friends and will be deeply missed.

Services

Visitation will be held Tuesday 10:00-11:00 am with a service following at 11:00 am at Church of the Resurrection 13720 Roe Blvd. Leawood, Kansas 66224.
