Heightened Chamber Involvement
Amos Family Funeral Home has joined the rank of “2013 Investors Guild” membership with the Shawnee Chamber. This unique category of membership recognizes making a substantial financial commitment to the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce in order to better enable the organization to carry out its business plan and improve the business climate in the greater Shawnee area.
When the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1946, its first president was an Amos. The founder of Amos Family Funeral Home, E Paul Amos, was the first president of the Shawnee Chamber and served again in that capacity in 1949.
Indeed, each if the three generations of the Amos Family who have owned and operated the funeral home are past presidents of the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce. Eugene Amos led the Chamber in 1963. Gregg Amos, president of Amos Family Funeral Home, was president of the Shawnee Chamber in 1990.
Involvement in the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce remains an Amos family affair. In addition to Gregg’s ongoing connection with the Chamber, his sister, Amy Amos Ruo, office manager is also involved. Megan Amos Starek, licensed funeral director, and Parker Amos, director of pre-need services, are fourth generation Amos’ to follow their family’s footsteps of serving the community. Parker is a graduate of the Shawnee Chamber’s Leadership Tomorrow program.
