Robert W. Rohr

Robert William Rohr, Mission, Kansas, passed away peacefully at age 92 on the morning of May 18, 2012, at Lakeview Village skilled nursing facility in Lenexa, after a short illness.   

 

Bob Rohr was born August 31, 1919, in Chicago, Illinois, to William Benoit and Mamie O’Malley Rohr. He was a four-year U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in Pacific theaters, and then a graduate of Northwestern University.   He retired as National Safety Director of Interstate Bakeries Corp. after 32 years of service.  

 

He loved friends and family, jazz music, doggerel and limericks (especially Ogden Nash), dogs, the Democratic Party (for its hope and social programs), and Irish pastimes. He was amiable, outgoing, concerned for the less fortunate, stoic and courageous through a prolonged period of losses.  He was a fine friend, a faithful husband, and a responsible, committed father.   

 

He is survived by his daughter Leslie Reynard (Joe Skeeba), Lawrence, Kansas; grandsons Christopher Miller, Amory, Mississippi, Benjamin Reynard, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Matthew Reynard, and Lawrence, Kansas; grand-daughters Kelley Crawford and Jordan Crawford, Overland Park, Kansas; and two great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; Georgette Ferguson Rohr, his wife of 42 years, in 1988; his sister Eleanor Holmquist, in 2006; his daughter Claire Crawford, in 2007; his daughter Suzanne Miller, in 2011.  His second wife, Elizabeth Esser Rohr, predeceased him in 2003; other survivors include Betty’s children Marilyn Evans, Constance Whelan, and Daniel Esser; their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. 

 

Services

 

Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m.,  Friday,  June 15, 2012, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd Street, Overland Park, Kansas.  The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m.  Inurnment immediately following  at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 85th Street and Quivira Road.
