Dear Phyllis:
It filled us with extreme sorrow to hear of the passing away of Tim yesterday. We know how attached you were to each other and everything must seem very bleak and desolate now.
Tim was not only a nice neighbor but also a good friend to us, and we cannot yet bring ourselves to realize that we will see him no more. Please accept our deep sympathy that is all we can offer.
We sincerely hope that these few words of consolation will help lighten the burden of your grief under this severe bereavement.
Truly,
Maria, Wally
This message is for Phyllis, Ian and the greater Murphy family,
Tim was such a great inspiration. Our first experience with Tim was through T-Ball – he was so patient and dedicated to those boys, he made it such a pleasant experience. From there, he persuaded our boys to come try scouting. As our den leader, he was again, kind, patient and dedicated. Tim modeled wonderful qualities through his leadership with our scouts, never giving up on any of them, patiently helping each boy find his path. Inspiring the boys to believe in themselves and to understand the values in scouting.
I write these words with a very heavy heart. Through his selfless dedication, he influenced so many of us through his work as a community volunteer and became a good friend that we will miss deeply.
We share in your sorrow and offer our deepest condolences on the loss of Tim’s presence. Tim did not hide his love for Phyllis and Ian, instead, taking every opportunity to embrace his life.
With fond memories and deep sympathy,
Amy and Jim Yankovich
To the Murphy Family
My heartfelt sympathy to all of you. I want you to know how much we respected Tim and all the work he did for the Parks and Recreation Department for the City. He has been missed and will continue to be missed. Thank you for sharing him with us for all these years and please know how much we appreciated all he did.
To the Murphy Family:
I was deeply sadden to hear of Tim’s passing. I had the pleasure of working with Tim on several transportation projects and he was alway professional and easy to work with, not to mention – fun-loving. I enjoyed our conversations on family and children – not to mention our common ties to NE Kansas and catholic school rivals….
My quote for you, “Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.” Eskimo Proverb
Know that you and your families are in my thoughts and prayers.

To the Murphy Family,
I’m greatly saddened to hear of your loss. I worked at the Merriam Aquatic Center for over ten years and it was always a pleasure to chat with Tim. Although he will be sorely missed, I feel fortunate, as I’m sure we all do, to have known such a warm and loving person. My thoughts are with you.

I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of Tim Murphy. I go to school at Leavenworth High, I have had Sean Murphy as my teacher, and am now his teacher helper. I lost my father twelve months ago, my heart goes out to Ian because I know how difficult this is for him. My families thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Phyllis & family,
I’m so sorry to read in the Times tonite that Tim has passed away. I remember wonderful times visiting, playing cards, boating and cooking with you and him. Remember your body cast and that wonderful apartment across from the old high school. What great times we had. Tim was an outstanding person. He was dedicated to parks and recreation and even though we lost touch over the years, I will always remember his smiling disposition and his excitement when he told me about Ian. Please accept our heartfelt condolences. Remember the many happy memories you have and the many lives Tim touched through the years.

Dear Phyllis and Ian,
So sorry to hear of Tim’s passing. I am happy that we got to know him. He was someone you met and did not forget.
We are sending heartfelt sympathy to you all from New York.
You, Ian and the Murphy family are in our thoughts and prayers.
I am shocked and saddened to learn of Tim’s passing. For several years I participated in the Merriam Parks & Rec. fantasy football league. In those days, Murph was the commissioner (brother Sean also played). Obviously I did not know him well, but I don’t believe I ever saw him without a smile on his face. We had a lot of fun joking about his beloved Raiders. He was always such a great guy to talk to.
May God wrap you and your family with love and the peace that passes all understanding. I am so sorry for your loss. God bless.
Jim,
Be assured of my prayers for you, Tim’s family, and all the family.
My love,
Susan Rieke
Phyllis, we were very much saddened to hear of Tim’s passing. We just read about the funeral today, and had no idea that he was ill. Tim was a great guy and an equally great athlete. (I hated playing softball against him because he was so fast.) I was honored to sing at your wedding, but what impressed me most was Tim singing to you. I have talked about that loving act to several people over the years. I’m glad you two found each other. We pray that you and Ian will be held closely in God’s hand during this time of mourning. Peace, The Sacks
Phyllis and Ian,
2 Corinthians 1: 2-4 “Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”
May the Lord himself comfort you in this time of sorrow. I lost my father one week after I turned 12 and know there will be many trials ahead. May you look earnestly to the heavenly Father who will not leave you nor forsake you. Psalm 50:15 “And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.” At 12, I didn’t know this, but I am sharing it with you because when no one else satisfies your deepest longing, God is there and can. May His loving arms surround you both.
Prayerfully, ken

Tim’s ashes are now interred at Shawnee Mission Memory Garden. 23215 W. 75th Street Shawnee Mission Johnson County Kansas in an area called the Old Rugged Cross Niche Bank.
