Horace Dowell, 81, of Shawnee, Kansas, died January 31, 2012, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

 

Visitation and Funeral Service

 

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2012, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m.  Funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 3, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Shawnee, Kansas.

 

Memorial Contributions

 

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5901 Flint, Shawnee, Kansas 66203.

    Mary and I wish to extend our condolence for the entire family at this sad hour. We enjoyed many hours together with this family, be it church, choir and camping. Will also miss his extended hand coming up th isle at church. Peace be with you Horace.

    Just heard about Horace today at Sun. Mass. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Maggie and your family. Horace was always so friendly. We sat by the two of you many times at weekday Masses. He always had a smile and a hand shake- such a thoughtful man. I know you will miss him as will all of us. He is with God now, at peace at last.

    Margaret,
    I didn’t know that Horace had passed away and I was so sorry to hear that at Mass last night. Father Scott mentioned him in prayers last night.
    I loved it when Horace gave me two ‘high fives’ on that Saturday Mass of early and then 5pm a few weeks back.
    You both are in my prayers.
