Alex is survived by his wife of 59 years, Irene Emerson and his two daughters, Jeanne (Richard) Wilms of Shawnee and Donna (Frank) Miller of Simi Valley, California.

Barbara Allyn McMinn

Barbara Allyn McMinn, 79, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away Monday, October 24, 2011, at her daughter, Amy’s home in Shawnee, Kansas, after a brief battle with leukemia.
Barbara was born July 11, 1932, in Maher, Colorado, to the late Ted and Dorothy Allyn. She moved to Albuquerque area to attend the Universityof New Mexico. She received a Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts in 1953. Shortly after graduating from college she married Dr. Jo McMinn in Crawford, Colorado. He preceded her in death after 52 years of marriage on April 28, 2005.
Barbara was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, as well a member of the Junior League of Albuquerque and the Garden Club of Albuquerque. She enjoyed playing Bridge with other Kappa alum and was an avid skier and tennis player.
Barbara was also preceded in death by her brother Ned Allyn.
She is survived by her three children, Christine Snyder and husband Steve, Jo McMinn and wife Susie, and Amy McMinn; two sisters, Sally Skeels, and Betty Jane Hunt; and four grandchildren Schuyler, Ben, Ian and Jenna.
Services
Cremation is planned with a memorial service at a later date in Albuquerque.

Susan Jo Rushing, 58, of Mission, Kansas, went to be with the angels in heaven on her birthday, October 24, 2011, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center after a hard battle with cancer.
Susan was born October 24, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Nicholas Macaluso and Loretta Shields. Susan was a cosmetologist for many years and loved styling hair.
Susan is survived by her loving husband Robert, Daughters, Nicole (Dustin), Jennifer, Beverly, Sons, Stephen (Becky), Jacob, Justin, and her 6 grandchildren.
Visitation and Funeral Service
A visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 28, 2011 , at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial following at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.

Betty J. Lightwine

Betty Joyce Lightwine, 85, Shawnee, Kansas, passed away October 24, 2011.
She was born June 23, 1926, in Butler, Missouri. She was a cashier at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School for many years.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charlie Lightwine on May 28, 2009.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia (Ed) Flynn, Lenexa, Kansas; two sons, Albert (Joyce) Lightwine, DeSoto, Kansas and Alan (Sherry) Lightwine, Olathe, Kansas; six grandchildren, Jennifer Gulick, Kelly Klein, Jamie Voorhies, Matthew Flynn, Ryan Flynn and Sarah Lightwine; and five great grandchildren.
Visitation and Funeral Service
Visitation will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m., Thursday, October 27, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial in Pleasant View Cemetery.

James C. Stewart

James C. Stewart, 78, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Overland Park, Kansas.
Jim was born May 6, 1933, in Ludlow, Missouri, to Ralph C. and Alta V. Stewart. He was employed with the Kansas City Gas Service Company for 39 years, retiring as a supervisor. Following Jim’s retirement, he worked at Price Chopper for 12 years. Jim was very active with the Boy Scouts of America in Overland Parkand was a past secretary and treasurer. He was also a sponsor of a Camp Fire Group.
Jim is survived by his wife, Joanne Stewart; son, Charles (Dana) Stewart, Spring Hill, Kansas; daughter, Suzanne (Andrew) Blair, Olathe, Kansas; sister, Lois Ruxlow, Owasso, Oklahoma; two brothers, Dean Stewart, Plano, Texas, and Richard Stewart, The Villages, Florida; and seven grandchildren.
Jim was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed.

Memorial services will be 7:00 pm, Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.

Frances (Hill) Landrum

Frances (Hill) Landrum, 95, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011, at her home.
Frances was born January 21, 1916, inKansas City, Kansas, to Frank F. and Elizabeth J. (Geenty) Hill. She married Harold F. Landrum on March 26, 1938. Franceswas a stay at home mother and operated a beauty shop from her home. She was presently a member of the B.P. Order of Does-Drove #74, Kansas City, Missouri.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Harold F. Landrum and brother, Russell J. Hill. Survivors include her son, James N. Landrum and wife, Michelle Sarley, Kansas City, Kansas; two daughters, Marilyn J. Farrell,Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Linda J. Cobb Boles and husband, Gerry, Overland Park, Kansas; sister-in-law, Eileen Hill, Kansas City, Missouri; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.
Visitation and Memorial Service
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Friday, Octoaber 28, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment in the Leavenworth National Cemetery.

William Moore, Sr.

William Moore, Sr., passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
Bill was born July 26, 1931, to the late Arch and Mayme Moore in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Westport High Schoolin 1948. After high school, Bill joined the United States Army and served during the Korean War. On June 6, 1952, he married Lolamary Kester in Kansas City. She preceded him in death after 56 years of marriage, on February 22, 2008.
Bill was an excellent marksman and won the National Junior Rifle championship as a teenager. He was an avid bowler and participated in several leagues. Bill enjoyed woodworking and spent hours on home repair projects, gardening and yard work. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and National Arbor Day Foundation.
Bill is survived by his three sons, William Moore, Jr. and wife Kelly; Chris Moore and wife Jennifer; Gary Moore and wife Pam; grandchildren, Matt and wife Jenn; Sam, Danny, Abby, Athena, Ethan, Max, and Emerson. He is also survived by a great grandson Jamison.
Graveside Service
Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, October 29, 2011, at Pleasant View Cemetery in Shawnee.

Sarah Ann “Sally Steuart, 74, Raymore, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri.
Sarah was born February 6, 1937, in Kidder, Missouri, to Charles and Ethel Streeter. On June 8, 1956, Sarah married Edwin C. Steuart in Independence, Missouri.
Sarah is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Betty Craven. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Edwin C. Steuart; daughter, Teri (Kevin) Byrne, Shawnee, Kansas; sister, Carol (Frank) Ware, Village of Loch Lloyd, Missouri; grandson, Brian (Tina) Mensch; and great grandchildren, Toby, Abigail, Jessica and Kathryn Mensch all of Riley, Kansas.

Memorial visitation will be 11-1:00 pm, Thursday, October 27, 2011, at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, Manhattan, Kansas. Inurnment will be in the Sedalia Cemetery, Manhattan, Kansas.

Bobby L. Chaffin

Bobby L. Chaffin, 81, Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011, in Kansas City, Kansas.
Bobby was born April 3, 1930, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Clarence and Virginia Chaffin and was a lifelong area resident. In 1948, Bobby started working at the Kansas City Kansan as a printer and remained there until his retirement. He was a veteran of the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Chaffin; son, David (Kerry) Chaffin; daughter, Lori (David) Benton; sister, Monta Rae Klasinski; brother, Albert Dale (Linda) Chaffin; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Memorial Service and Visitation
Memorial services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at the Maple Hill Baptist Church; inurnment in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas. Friends may call from 1:00-2:00 pm, Tuesday at the church.

Joseph Thomas Renfrow

Joseph Thomas Renfrow, 57, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011. He was born April 14, 1954, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Frank and Shirley Renfrow. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandpa, and uncle.
As a young boy, Joe grew up in Vancouver, Canada and Oklahoma eventually moving to Kansas and starting his family where he lived the remainder of his life. He spent more than 30 years in construction and flooring. He was an excellent craftsman and loved working with his hands. He was a very kind and giving person, who would help his family and friends as much as he could. He had a wonderful sense of humor, very adventurous, and loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James Renfrow; stepson, Jimmie Phillips; and nephew, Jaekob Renfrow. He is survived by his wife, Cheri Renfrow; three brothers, Frank Renfrow Jr., Bill Renfrow, John Renfrow; his children, Angela Simmons, Jason Renfrow, Chad Renfrow, Angela Breitenstein, Nicole Ferree; and his grandchildren, Jenna Simmons, Addison Simmons, Cooper Simmons, Hank Williams, Lennon Westervelt, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Memorial Service
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2011, followed by a visitation until 5:00 pm at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.
