Larry W. Smith

Larry W. Smith, 65 of Westwood, Kansas, passed away, Monday, April 11, 2011, at St. Luke’s Hospital.

 

Larry was born in Mitchell, Arkansas, to Otho and Ada Mae Blair Smith. The family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, in 1957. He was a carpenter and member of Local 61 of the Carpenter’s Union. Larry was a talented musician and played the bass guitar for many local bands and gospel groups. He loved muscle cars and drag racing. He particularly loved Corvettes.

 

Larry is survived by a son, Kenny J. Smith and his wife, Denise, of Windsor, Missouri; two brothers, Carroll Smith and his wife, LaRue, and Ronnie Smith and his wife Pam, all of Kansas City, Kansas; a sister, Patricia Stuart and her husband, Darren, of Shawnee, Kansas; and six grandchildren, Hannah, Ashleigh, Patrick, Keaton, Drake, and Laura.

 

Visitation and Funeral Service

 

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, April 14, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.  Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 15, 2011, at the chapel.  Burial in Maple Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas.
