Constance Claire Boles

Constance Claire Boles, 77, of Carl Junction, Missouri, formerly of Shawnee, Kansas, died December 25, 2010, at her home with her loving family.
Born on November 15, 1933, in Lawrence, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Winston and Lucille Brown. She lived most of her life in Shawnee, Kansas, until her retirement, and moved to Carl Junction, Missouri to be close to her grandchildren.
In 1954 she graduated from St. Theresa Nursing School as a registered nurse. In 1956, she married John Michael Boles, and worked as a scrub nurse on rotation in the operating rooms at Menorah Medical Center, working to get her husband through medical school.
They just celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary together. She was an active member of the “Young Matron’s Society”, until her retirement in December of 1997.
She is survived by her younger sister Sharon Linder; her husband Dr. John Michael Boles, MD; four children, John Michael Boles, Jr., David M. Boles, Daniel A. Boles and Paul J. Boles; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
Her passion in life was serving her community and helping and loving her friends and family whom she cared about very deeply. She will be missed by all whom she touched in her life. May her soul live within all of us, and rest in peace and grace with the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Visitation and Funeral Service
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 30, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Robert (Bob) G. Martin

Robert (Bob) G. Martin, 80, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away December 24, 2010. He was born November 21, 1930, in Beaumont, Texas, to William Hill and Sadie Edd Martin.
Bob lived and worked in the Beaumont, Texas, area until 1980. He was employed as a yardman for the Kansas City Southern Railroad from 1952 until 1980. He moved to Shawnee, Kansas, and was employed by United Transportation Union as a union representative, retiring in January 1999.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cara, of Shawnee, Kansas; brother, Lynwood Martin, and wife, Sue, of Orange, Texas; sister, Wanda Sanders, and husband, Wayne, of Terre Haute, Indiana two sons, Robert and wife Katy, of Pasadena, Texas, and Howard and wife Carolyn, of Stephenville, Texas; two step-children, Darrell Billingsley, of Kansas City, Kansas, and Glenna Billingsley, of Austin, Texas; and four grandchildren.
No services are planned.
Kathleen Duncan Rahner

Kathleen Duncan Rahner of Lakeview Village in Lenexa, Kansas, died Friday, December 24, 2010, at Kansas City Hospice House at the age of 94.
Kathy was born in Gentry County, Missouri, on December 14, 1916, the only child of Ross and Blondina Duncan. She graduated from King City High School and St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, then worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City. In 1941, she married Richard G. Rahner, D.D.S. After Dr. Rahner’s service in the Navy during World War II, they made their home in Kansas City.
Kathy was an avid bridge player, an enthusiastic traveler, and an accomplished, if reluctant, cook. Kathy’s family and friends were blessed to share her unconditional love, unerring wisdom and irrepressible, irreverent wit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and grandson, Stephen Kelly. She is survived by her daughter Sally Thompson, and husband Mike of Parkville, Missouri; son George Rahner and wife Nancy of Columbia, Missouri; grandson Chris Kelly and wife Alicia of Lenexa, Kansas; granddaughter Kristin Keane and husband Kenneth of Kansas City; grandson Matthew Rahner and Anmarie Gibson of Columbia, Missouri; granddaughter Katie Rahner of Kansas City; and great-grandchildren Jamie, Rachel and Bobby Kelly and Elsa Gibson-Rahner.

Funeral Service
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 9150 Pflumm, Lenexa, Kansas, at 10 a.m. on December 30, 2010, with interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Margaret Louise Lander

Marge, Margie, Bootsie or Mamo, she answered to all, was born in Springfield, Missouri, on September 20, 1926, and left this world to be held in God’s holy arms on Wednesday, December 22, 2010.
By the age of 15, Marge assumed the role of mother to her siblings when she lost both her parents. She later moved everyone to Kansas City, Missouri to live with her aunt and uncle, Lucille and Michael O’Reilly. She graduated in 1945 from Bishop Hogan High School in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a determined and strong willed German-Irish Catholic who worked hard and received her degree as a Registered Nurse from the former St. Mary’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She worked as a nurse for the Union Pacific Railroad and there, in 1950 met her husband, Richard E. Lander. They married in 1951 and moved to Overland Park, Kansas, where she lived until the fall of 2007.
Marge was active in her church, St. Pius X Catholic Church, and belonged to various clubs and held many volunteer positions within St. Pius X School and church. She worked as a nurse for Donald J. Smith, M.D. for many years. During those early years, she was on the ground floor in organizing and carrying petitions to build Shawnee Mission Medical Center. She was a very kind and generous lady who was devoted to her family, the Blessed Virgin and the rosary. Marge always felt that being a grandmother was the ‘GRAND PRIZE’ for being a good mother.
She is survived by her only son, Rick Lander and wife, Pam; her five daughters, Cathy Hare and husband, Bob, Peggy Lander, Jane Ferber and husband, Scott, Julie Burger and husband, Mark and Jill Darbyshire all of Shawnee Mission, Kansas. Marge was blessed with nineteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Helen Byrne of Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Dick Lander who passed away in March of this year; and by two brothers, Pat and Joseph Bollinger.
The family would like to thank Mission Springs Assisted Living and Overland Park Place Skilled Nursing for the kind and generous care received by their mother during the past few years.

Visitation and Funeral Service
All services will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 55th and Woodson in Mission, Kansas. The visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 26, 2010, with a Rosary at 5:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 27, 2010. Marge’s final resting place will be along side the love of her life at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, Kansas.
Isobel H. Pearson

Isobel H. Pearson, 86, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away December 20, 2010.
Isobel owned and operated The Orange Julius in Metcalf South Mall for 17 years.
She was a proud member of the St. Andrew’s Society. Isobel was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Arthur M. Pearson in 1978 and by her companion Frank Lyon in 2010.
She is survived by her sons Art Pearson, Eric Pearson (Cindy), and Scott Pearson; daughters Jean Stanclift (Mike), and Jill Miller (Jeff); grandchildren, Arty (Pam) and Chris (Ali) Pearson, Keith Pearson, Michael Jr. (Sadie), Sarah, and Cody Stanclift, and Ty and Erin Miller; 4 great-grandchildren; and sister Thelma Henderson.

Virginia R. Anderson, 95, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away, Monday, December 20, 2010, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
Virginia was born in Prairie Village, Kansas. She was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church.
Her husband, George D. Anderson, preceded her in death in 1988. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Morris and a grandson, Kevin Mai. She is survived by three daughters, Waverly (Don) Lewis, Bandera, Texas, Georgeann (Kenneth) Mai, Shawnee, Kansas and Jana Rae (the late Bud) Corbin, Shawnee, Kansas; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Arthur Gary Twigg, 85, of Mission passed away Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Kansas City Hospice House.
Art was born April 3, 1925 to the late Arthur and Margaret Twigg in Geneva, Illinois. Art served as a Radio Operator in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war Art went to work as a Tool and Die maker. He retired from Clay and Bailey Manufacturing in 1990.
Art was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He volunteered for the Shawnee Fire and Rescue Squad as an EMT. Art also taught First Aid and CPR classes for the American Red Cross. He enjoyed woodworking, camping with his family and served as a Scoutmaster for Troop 194 in Shawnee.
Art is survived by his special friend Billie Rhymes, of the home; daughter, Cheri Murphy and husband Harry of Kansas City, Missouri; five sons, Thomas and Wendy of Prairie Village, Kansas, Jonathan of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Steven and wife Vikki of McKinney, Texas, James and Monica of Overland Park, Kansas, Jeffery and wife Laura of De Bary, Florida; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Steve Ann Roos, 74, Shawnee, Kansas, finally ended her ten year battle with cancer on December 18, 2010. She went gently in her sleep with a smile on her face, probably thinking of one of her favorite pastimes, sewing, embroidery, fishing, camping and her most cherished times spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all her many friends.
Steve Ann was born March 16, 1936, in Johnson County, Kansas, to Glen and Freda (Carter) Vogt. On April 11, 1953, Steve Ann married Bill Roos in Kansas City, Missouri.
he was preceded in death by her parents and sister, JoAnn Coyne. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, William J. (Bill) Roos; daughter, Kim Mallinson and partner, Michele Nelson, Rockford, IL; two sons, Jerry Roos and wife, Oxana and Rick Roos and wife, Karen; brother, Tom Vogt and wife, Joan all of Shawnee, Kansas; five grandchildren; four great granchildren; and many other family members.

Mattingly was born December 4, 2009. She is survived by her loving parents, Coral and Jeremy; sister Brinley; maternal grandparents, Clifford and Holly Peters, Redondo Beach, California; paternal grandmother, Linda Willis, Overland Park, Kansas; paternal grandfather David Willis, Kansas City, Missouri; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
