Barbara Ann Renfro

December 31, 2010

Barbara Ann Renfro, 65, Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010, in Charlotte, North Carolina.           

 

Barbara was a graduate of UNCG (Phi Beta Kappa), received her MA at Indiana University and her MA in Library Science from Winthrope University. She taught 11th grade English at Myers Park High School before becoming a Media Specialist at Sharon and Pinewood Elementary Schools.

 

Barbara was a cheerleader sponsor and attended dances. She was known to grade papers during sporting events and her students will remember her for the ever present Coke that she sipped on during class.

 

Barbara was an avid sports fan, following the Panthers through thick and thin. She loved the original Charlotte Hornets basketball team. Most of all, she loved antiques, art and finding deals in flea markets. She was a good sport who was able to laugh at herself, and to honestly enjoy the humor of high school students. She had a good heart, always willing to help out students and friends.  She was a true good friend to many.  She loved her dad and later that love was transferred to her nieces.

 

Barbara was preceded in death by her father and mother, Robert T. and Mattie I. (Wilkinson) Renfro and sister Patricia Anthony. Survivors include her sister, Margaret Minea and her husband, Todd and their two daughters, Allison and Samantha.

Ruth M. Baier

December 31, 2010

Ruth M. Baier, 86, formerly of Dallas, Texas, passed away at Shawnee Gardens Nursing Facility, Shawnee, Kansas on December 31, 2010.

 

Ruth was born May 31, 1924, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Edward and Elsie Baier.  She was an executive secretary for an advertising firm for many years.  

 

Ruth is survived by her sisters, Elsie Bailey and Bill Meeder, Donna Reneger (Calvin), and Patricia Haberlein (Bernard), and many nieces and nephews.  Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Edward L. Baier.  

 

Memorial Service

 

Memorial service will be 7:00 p.m.,  Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. 

G. E. “Eddie” Fuchs

December 30, 2010

G.E. “Eddie” Fuchs, 90, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 30, 2010, at the Kansas City Hospice House.

 

Eddie was born July 10, 1920, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Henry and Lillian (Crowley) Fuchs. He was a graduate of Rosedale High School. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII in the European Theater. He was a member of the Amateur Trap Shooting Assoc. Eddie was in the printing industry for over 50 years and the founder and owner of Mid-Town Press of K.C. Inc. from 1953-2001. He was a member of the Graphic Communications Union.

 

 

Eddie was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Gwendolyn Mae (Krajicek) Fuchs on January 16, 1997, brothers, Joseph, John, Bernard and Henry and sisters, Mary Fehrenbach and Lillian Fuchs. Survivors include his four children, Gail Aita and husband, Paul, Lenexa, Kansas, Mary Wear and husband, Daniel, Olathe, Kansas, Melissa Lynch and husband, Thomas, Overland Park, Kansas and George E. Fuchs, II and wife, Georgia, Overland Park, Kansas; 16 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

 

He was a wonderful man and will be with us always.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, January 2, 2010, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.  Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 3, 2010, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 5500 Woodson, Mission, Kansas.  Burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.

Frank B. Hildenbrand

Frank B. Hildenbrand, 93, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away December 28, 2010. 

 

Frank was born September 22, 1917, in Quincy, Illinois.  A Navy veteran, he retired from the FAA after 35 years.

 

Frank is survived by his wife, Bernice of 65 years; daughter Kathy Johnson (Lee) of Denver, Colorado;  son Jim Hildenbrand of Bettendorf, Iowa; and grandchildren, Lindsay, Amanda, Ben, and Kyle.

Evelyn Ann Gery, 52, of Shawnee, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at the Kansas City Hospice House.  

 

Evelyn was born October 18, 1958, to Darlene and Joseph Ferry in Abington, PA.  Evelyn is survived by her husband, Bill Gery, three daughters, Karen Gery, Colleen Caffrey, Sarah Gery, brother, Joseph Ferry, and granddaughter, Emily.

Gerald “Gary” Deason

December 27, 2010

Gary Deason, 73, of Overland Park, Kansas, was called to be with the Lord December 27, 2010.  Gary was born December 27, 1937, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, to Alvin and Beulah (Lowrey) Deason.

 

Gary worked for many years as a sheet metal worker and was a proud member of The Sheet Metal Retiree’s Club.

 

He is survived by his brother Tom Deason, and sisters, Jan Ernst and Vesta York.

 

Gary will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 am, Monday, January 3, 2011, at the Nall Avenue Baptist Church, 6701 Nall Avenue, Prairie Village, Kansas.   A funeral service will follow at 11 am and the church.

Lillian Louise Black Bamberger

December 25, 2010

Lillian Louise Black Bamberger, 91, passed away December 25, 2010, surrounded by loved ones.    

 

Lillian was born November 20, 1919, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Catherine S. and Warren C. Black.  Her family moved to Canton, Ohio where she graduated from Canton McKinley High School in 1937.  It was there that she met her husband Harold “Bud” Bamberger, whom she married in 1943. 

 

Lillian led a full life, raising a family and working various jobs until her retirement in 1979 from The College of Wooster in Ohio where she was the executive secretary to the Vice President of Finance.  She loved to travel and especially enjoyed visiting friends and family across the country, as well as excursions to Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, and Hawaii.  Her later years were spent living with her family in Lenexa, Kansas.

 

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 36 years, Harold E. Bamberger; her son, Harold E. Bamberger, Jr.; her daughter, Kathleen B. Stroud; and brother, Howard Black. 

 

She is survived by her son Stephen, his wife Julie, and their children Tracey, Kevin, and Kara Bamberger, all of Lenexa; her grandchildren Katrina Stroud, Cristi Downey (Kevin), Sonya Jacob (Jim), Heather McCrea, and Stephanie Schultheis, as well as 12 great grandchildren.

 

Hers was a life well lived and she will be greatly missed.
