Betty Lee Jones

Betty Lee Jones, 80, Olathe, Kansas, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park, Kansas.

 

Mrs. Jones was born October 13. 1930, in Kansas City, Kansas to William  and Mary (Wood) Dozier. She married Rev. Lyle E. Jones on October 11, 1953, in Kansas City, Kansas. Throughout their lives they served in many capacities in church ministry. She was a senior bookkeeper for Sperry New Holland for 18 years and had in the recent past worked part time at Burlington Coat Factory. She attended both Antioch Family Worship Center and Indian Creek Community Church.  Mom lived her faith in Jesus Christ, loved with all of her heart and never met a stranger.

 

Betty is survived by her husband, Reverend Lyle E. Jones; son, Stephen E. Jones and wife, Pamela, Olathe, Kansas; daughter, Rhonda Vincent and husband, Ron, Leawood, Kansas; six grandchildren, Stephen Jones, Kelli Vincent, Jennifer Jones, Ryan Vincent, Aaron Vincent and Rebecca Hamlin; and eight great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral Service and Visitation

 

Visitation will be from 10-11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.  Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.; burial in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Ida May Brunson

Ida May Brunson, 92, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away at home peacefully in her sleep on the morning of November 19, 2010. 

 

Ida May was born August 14, 1918. She met the love of her life Maurice Brunson and married on January 1, 1936 and they had two sons and two daughters.  In 1958 the family moved to Shawnee , Kansas. She loved to garden, birdwatch, Kansas City Royals games, sew, bake and cook.  Holiday meals were a special time she treasured and nothing gave her more pleasure than spending time with family and taking care of those she loved.  She was a loving mother and grandmother that lived a long full life and she will be very missed by all her family and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Maurice Brunson, her son Irvin Brunson, and 4 sisters. Ida May is survived by her son Donald Brunson; daughters Phyllis Brunson and Anita Cannon, Sharon Kenton; grandchildren Theresa Prue, Debbie Compton, Tammy Glenn-Brunson, Rhonda Stuart, David Brunson and Charles Cannon; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great-greatgrandchildren; and sister Josephine Tabbert. 

 

Funeral Service and Visitation

 

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Monday, November 22, 2010, at Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Funeral  services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at the chapel, followed by burial at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens .

Freda Lenora Almond Osborn

Freda Lenora Almond Osborn, 93, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Friday, November 19, 2010, at the Sweet Life at Rosehill, Shawnee, Kansas. 

 

Freda was born February 4, 1917, on a ranch near Pragresso, New Mexico, to Fred and Clara (Henderson) Frevert. She was a 40 year  member of the Merriam Christian Church and a Worthy Matron with the Eastern Star for over 50 years. Freda enjoyed quilting, gardening and especially traveling.

 

Freda was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford R. Almond, two sisters and three brothers. Survivors include her daughter, Roberta Burns, Roeland Park, Kansas; two sons, Gary L. Almond and wife, Jan, Prairie Village, Kansas and Don Almond and wife, Esther, Branson West, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 21 great- great-grandchildren.

Visitation and Funeral Service

 

Visitation will be from 10-11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.  Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.  Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at the Yates Center Cemetery.

Ruth Marie Bain

November 18, 2010

Ruth Marie Bain, 87, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away, Thursday, November 18, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family. Ruth was a woman of great faith and was dearly beloved by her family and friends.

 

Ruth was born October 17, 1923, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Harold and Annie Lowry Rice. She married Charles F. Bain on June 19, 1942, in Independence, Missouri. She worked for Safeway for 25 years and later worked at French Market in Overland Park.

 

Ruth was preceded in death by her sister, Doris Scofield. Survivors include her husband, Charles; daughters, Annette (Harris) Deutsch, of Olathe, Kansas and Deborah (Jon) Gates, of Parker, Colorado; three grandsons, Erich (Cathy) Reinsch, Jeff Gates and Brandon (Sarah) Gates; and three great grandchildren, Stephen Reinsch, Maxwell Boone Gates and Macey Rose Gates.

Evelyn Lee Krause

Evelyn Lee Krause, 84, of Shawnee, Kansas,  passed away November 18, 2010.

 

Evelyn was born March 20, 1926 in Jackson, Mississippi, to Francis B. and Reba Fuller Lee.  She has lived in the Shawnee area for 65 years owning and operating her own business, The Doll Cradel, from 1970 to 1985.  She was a proud member of the Metropolitan Avenue Methodist Church, D.A.R. James Ross Chapter, U.F.D.C. Doll Club, the I.R.O.C.F., and Jaykewps of Kansas Kewpie Clubs.

 

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter Rebecca Kay Heilman.

 

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bernard Edward Krause of the home; daughter Constance Lee Harrell (John Elder) of Shawnee; grandchildren, Jarrett List (Jennifer) of Chicago, Illinois, Bernard List (Chrissy) of Jackson, Mississippi, Christy Hughes (Kenny) of Richmond, Missouri, and John Randall Harrell of Mission, Kansas; great-grandchildren; Mathew and Adam List, and Hunter List and Katie, Emily, and Kenzie Hughes; and three sisters; Nancy Williams, Annette McHann, and Carolyn Heiden all of Jackson, Mississippi.

Geraldine M. Nicoli Bridges, 86, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away November 18, 2010.

 

Geraldine was born March 10, 1924, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Silas E. and Eula (Duncan) Reece.   She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Hardister, Rae Jean Baird (Jim) both of Overland Park, Kansas; and grandchildren, Aaron, Nick, Annie, Zack, and Kristen.

Adelynn Justina Stone, daughter of Richard and Ronda (Vlasin) Stone, Mission, Kansas,  passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2010.

 

Our precious angel Adelynn was born April 6, 2009, in Overland Park, Kansas.  She is survived by her parents, Richard and Ronda; grandparents, Ron and Elaine Vlasin, Crete, Nebraska and Richard and Ruth Stone, Gardner, Kansas; and many loving relatives and friends.

Philip Randall Bradley

November 17, 2010

Philip Randall Bradley was born on August 12, 1954, in Winfield, Kansas, to Phillip L. and Betty McGowan Bradley.  He passed away on November 17, 2010,  at home in Shawnee, Kansas.

Randy attended Winfield Public Schools and graduated from Winfield High School in 1972.  He also attended and graduated from Southwestern College  in 1976.  After graduating he attended Dallas Seminary and became an ordained priest.  He served Catholic churches in Pittsburg, Kansas, Hutchinson, Kansas, Wichita, Kansas and Council Grove, Kansas.

Upon leaving the priesthood, he worked for the City of Winfield. During this time he earned a second degree in biology from Southwestern College.

For the past several years he lived in Shawnee, Kansas, and worked with Barber Financial Group.  He was a member of Winfield Masonic Lodge #110 and OES #138.

He is preceded in death by his father, sister, Patricia Bradley, grandparents Earl and Margaret Waldorf McGowan, and Walter and Margaret Mackey Bradley.

He is survived by his mother; three sisters, Penny Fell, Pamela Anderson and husband Darwin Anderson, and Paula Bradley; nephews Ryan and Brandon Fell; and half-sister Morea Powell.

Juanita Thurman, 90, of Kansas City, Kansas, born December 31, 1919, passed away November 16, 2010, at her home.

She  is survived by her husband Dale Thurman of 64 years, sons; Jim Kilburn (Shirley), Joe Kilburn (Judy), Don Thurman (Rhonda); sister Billie Jean Burris (Chuck); 11 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.

Monica Anne Dailey

Monica Anne Dailey, infant daughter of Teresa and Nick Dailey went to be with the angels in heaven on November 16, 2010.

 

Monica is survived by her loving parents, grandparents, Alan and Christine Shoemaker, John and Anne Marie Hansen, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Monica was preceded in death by her grandfather Tim Dailey.
