Joseph A. Weber
Joseph A. Weber, 88, passed away on August 24, 2010. Joe was born on December 15, 1921 in Sedalia, Missouri to Frank and Emma (Dove) Weber. He was a member of the “Great Generation” along with his brothers, Bernard, John and Leo, and served in the Pacific during World War II on the USS Cascade as a carpenter’s mate first class.
He married Barbara Hula on February 15, 1946. Joe worked as a builder with his dad and brothers in Sedalia, Missouri and also in Overland Park, Kansas after moving there in 1946. He worked as a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service at the Shawnee Mission Branch for 35 years and was a long-time member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Joe loved fishing and gardenting and helping his children with their many home improvement projects. He and Barb also spent hours making lap quilts for the Cancer Society.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Emma; his brothers – Bernard, Leo and John (his twin); his sister, Theresa; and his grandson, Daniel.
Joe is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara; children- Richard (Marianne) of Roeland Park, Kansas; Tom of Carson, Washington; Ron (Rhonda) of Lenexa, Kansas; Diane of Merriam, Kansas; Dan (Kris) of Overland Park, Kansas; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and his sisters, Helen Brooks of Westwood, Kansas and Maxine Gibson (Don) of Florissant, Missouri.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Garden Terrace in Merriam, Kansas for their care and support of Joe during his last years. Visitation and Services
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, a rosary will be recited at 6:30. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church 5500 Woodson, Mission, KS at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Cremation with burial at a later date.

Dick,
I’m very sorry to hear about your fathers passing. I know how tough it is to see your parents struggling with health issues, and the finality them passing away. Keep your dad with you in your memory, and remember all the great things he did for you and your family.
