Having grown up in Shawnee since mid-1960s, and being a part of the community through school and work, I knew who Mr. Amos was. I provided respiratory therapy for him at SMMC the last few years, but remember him for his presence in our town. One memory I have was when he was featured on Michael Feldman's "Whad'Ya Know" radio show when it was broadcast from Shawnee several years ago. Mr. Amos' love of community set a hallmark for all of us to reach. This condolence, though late in delivering to this site, is sincere, and I wish his family well.

I have known Mr Amos since I was a young boy growing up in Shawnee. Would like to express my condolences on behalf of the Bentz family Bob, Doris, Gary and Jan. Doris, my mother did a lot of work for the Shawnee Optomist's years ago and became friends with Gene through their work together. Gary Bentz

Margaret and family:

It was a privilege to serve with Gene in the Kansas Legislature; he was always such a gentlemen, kind to everyone, caring about his family, community, state and nation. I loved his sense of humor and his dear kind heart.

He will be missed greatly by so many people and I know most of all by his family.

With warm thoughts and prayers,

Nancy Brown

Margaret, Greg, Joni and Amy,

So much goes through our minds when we think of all of the times that the Beatys' and the Amos' have spent together, especially when it came to baseball - Chuckie and Greg playing against each other when they were teens, Gene & Chuck spending time on the Northwest Advisory board, April & Joni going to high school together and attending Fire Dept functions.

Then it seemed that we were calling you when Chuckie died and then Chuck. Your family was always there and you were so helpful in those times of need.

There is nothing that words can say to help you through your grief and pain. We just pray that everyone whose lives that you have touched will be there for you in some way. We just want you to know that if there is anything that the Beaty family can do for you, all you need to do is call. We'll do what we can.

We will miss Gene very much. He was a very special man and touched everyone that he came in contact with.

Again, we are here if you need us,

Sincerely,
April & Selma Beaty

I just got back from being out of town for a couple of weeks & learned of Gene's passing. I'm so sorry I wasn't there to personally let you know how much of a friend he was for me. No words can express what a wonderful person he was & how much he will always be remembered. I'll never forget how much of a help he was to me in my time of need - both personally & professionaly. I'll miss him as well as so many others will.

To "The Amos Family",
So sorry for your loss. He will be missed by many many people. We found the Amos Family, have such a great way to comfort you at a time of a loss of a loved one. How we appreciated that when I lost my husband. Always a smile and offering a lending hand.
My Sympathy to all of your family.
