Glen W. Norton

Glen W. Norton of Olathe, Kansas, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2009 after his 84th birthday. 

 

Glen was born December 23, 1925 to Harold and Margaret Norton residing in Westphalia, Kansas and attended high school in Abilene, Kansas. His formative years were spent on the family farm prior to enlisting in the Navy during WWII.

 

Glen obtained his bachelors degree in business at the University of Kansas, prior to pursing his graduate studies at the University of Notre Dame.

 

Glen was married in 1950 to Delores Nelson and remained employed with International Harvester as a regional manager and store manager until his retirement in 1983.

 

He remained active in sports, gardening, painting, photography, and travel throughout his retirement years and maintained homes in Colorado and Arizona prior to his return to the Kansas City area to serve as a mentor and inspiration to his children and grandchildren. 

 

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Ruth Bennett, and two brothers Andrew and Ralph Norton.  Glen is survived by his wife of 60 years, Delores E. Norton, and two children, Connie Jo Jolly and Kenneth A. Norton, M.D., as well as five grandchildren. 

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Shawnee Mission Medical Center Foundation.

 

Memorial Service

 

A memorial service in celebration of Glen’s life will be presented at 1:00 pm, Saturday January 30, 2010, at Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.
