I am proud to call Allen a friend of mine. We shared so few common interests (politically we were at odds, he wouldn’t want me to discuss our religious differences and we never worked together) it was amazing to me we would ever talk but we did. Allen liked to walk a bit while working and would stop by and sit down and ask how things were going. That would lead to a multi-hour conversation on all manner of topics. I really enjoyed his visits. Some would say that Allen’s life was Black & Veatch. I do not believe that is true. Allen’s life was his work and an exemplary level of attention to detail. He lived for challenging problems and reveled so in conquering same. And conquering them he did as he was truly a great relay engineer. Allen was also a man of great integrity and I am truly blessed for having known him. I will miss our conversations.
My sincere condolences to his family.
Mike
i worked with Allen at B&V. if i could only know 1/2 as much as he did, and apply it is another story.
i often talked with him in the early mornings because of the hours he liked to work. his sense of humor was quirky but i understood, or i thought i did.
please know that Allen will be missed.
sincerely ,and with sadness – TCWalls
