CMSgt Harvey Louis Webb (Retired)

Harvey L. Webb, 69, of Merriam, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his loving family Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Shawnee Gardens Nursing Home. 

 

Harvey was born July 15, 1940 to the union of Mary Jane Humphress and Alfonso Eugene Webb, Sr.  He was a graduate of Shawnee Mission North High School.  He was one of the children cited in the Webb versus Shawnee Mission Schools.  The case was won, which allowed black children to attend the public schools in the Shawnee Mission District. 

 

Harvey was baptized at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where he was a lifelong member.  Harvey joined the United States Air Force in April 1960 and retired, after 30 years, in April 1990. During Harvey’s military career, he was promoted to Chief Master Sergeant (E9), a rank congressionally capped at no more than one percent of the enlisted population.  While in service to his country, Harvey was stationed in Taiwan, Germany, Greece and Thailand as well as two tours of duty in Vietnam.  Harvey also had numerous assignments at various stateside Air Force Base locations.  After completing his Air Force career; Harvey became the building engineer for Shawnee Gardens Healthcare and Rehab where he served for eighteen years.  Harvey was well loved and respected by all who were a part of his family, friends, or coworkers. His thoughtful deeds and actions contributed to the happiness and well being of many people. 

 

Harvey is preceded in death by his father, Alfonso Eugene Webb, Sr., his daughter Yolanda E. Webb, his brother, Alfonso E. Webb Jr.  He leaves to mourn his passing:  mother Mary Jane Webb of Merriam, Kansas; wife, Sharon S. Webb of the home; two sons Stephan Webb, Eric Webb (Julie); two daughters, Devra Webster (Ron), Allison Webb; three brothers, Jim Webb (Louvenia), Quinton Webb, Victor Webb (Denise); five sisters; Wanda Wilkes (Carl), Cheterria Williams (Eurvin), Mary E. Webb, Kathleen Gabriel (Kevin) all of the Kansas City area, Deborah Stephens (Charles) of Southfield, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Donta Gonzalez (New York), Matthew Marner (Maryland), Kamron Friday, Jordan Friday, Lexa Webster, Tre Webb and Kobi Hinton, all of the Kansas City area; two very special people, Grace and Rob Layton; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other friends.

 

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Grace Hospice, 9233 Ward Parkway, Suite 201, Kansas City, Missouri 64114-3304. 

 

Visitation and Services

 

Visistation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 16 at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.  A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 17 at the chapel.  Burial with military honors will be at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens.

Richard Wayne Pendleton

November 11, 2009

Richard Wayne Pendleton, 67 of rural Bonner Springs, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. 

 

Born in Barry County, Missouri to Richard and Kate (Linn) Pendleton he moved with his family to Kansas City area in his young teens.  He served in the U.S. Air Force for  four years then worked as a terminal manager for Churchill Truck Lines, Farmland Industries then Orscheln Truck Lines before his retirement in 2006. 

 

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda; three sons Michael and his family, Linda, Zachary and Saralyn Pendleton of Kingwood, Texas, John and his family, Samantha and Caulin Pendleton of Shawnee, Heath and his family Courtnee, Colton and Harmonee Pendleton of Gardner; two daughters, Kristy of Kansas City, Missouri and Heather of Bonner Springs; one brother, Robert Pendleton of Kansas City, Kansas, and two aunts and two uncles.  He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and two sisters, Linda Gentry and Sylvia Creason.

There will be a celebration of Richard’s life at the family home in Bonner Springs, 1 p.m. Sunday, November 15, 2009, for family and friends. 

Gerald D. Jepson

November 11, 2009

Gerald D. Jepson, 88, of Prairie Village, Kansas passed away November 11, 2009. 

 

Gerald was born April 6, 1921 in Soldier, Kansas to Irvin and Miriam Onion Jepson.  He graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in business.  Gerald served in the US Army during WWII.   He was district director of the Small Business Administration before his retirement in 1979.  He was united in marriage on July 26, 1947 to Evelyn I. Osborn.  She preceded him in death on April 9th 1996.   He was also preceded in death by a brother Dale Jepson and a sister Doris Jepson. Gerald was a member of Overland Park Christian Church, enjoyed traveling with his family and was an avid train collector.

 

He is survived by his son Dwight Jepson (Kathy), of Topeka, Kansas; 2 daughters Linda Thompson (Stuart) of Olathe, Kansas, and Mary Schmidgall (Warren) of Topeka, Kansas; grandchildren, Eric, Josh, Nate, Seth, Ami, Heidi, Eric, and Sam; and 5 great-grandchildren.

 

Visitation and Funeral Service

 

Services will be held Friday, November 13, 2009 at Overland Park Christian Church, 7600 W. 75th Street, Overland Park, Kansas with a visitation from 12-1:00 pm, and a service following at 1:00 pm.   Burial will follow in Johnson County Memorial Gardens 11200, Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas.

Edward C. Klempnauer, Jr.

November 9, 2009

Edward C. Klempnauer, Jr., 79, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away at home, Monday, November 9, 2009.

 

He was born September 27, 1930 in Kansas City, Kansas to Edward C., Sr. and Olive G. Klempnauer.  He graduated from Argentine High School and Kansas City Kansas Community College.  He spent summers at his grandparent’s farm in Grain Valley, Missouri, helping milk cows.

 

Ed retired from Black & Veatch after 43 years, his last position being Mechanical Drafting Supervisor.  He served 20 years in the Kansas National Guard.

 

Ed is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wilma I. Klempnauer; daughters, Elaine Cuppy of Shawnee, Kansas, Diane Clinesmith and her husband, Mike, of Overland Park, Kansas, and Gale Howard and her husband, Bryan, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; grandchildren, Josh, Cassandra, Dan, Jacob, Devon, Aaron and Chrissy; brother, Phillip Klempnauer, of Henderson, Nevada; and many brothers and sisters-in-law who were like his own family and many nieces and nephews who were all special to him.

Kenneth G. “Judo” Regenniter

Kenneth G. “Judo” Regenniter was received home to Christ on November 9, 2009. 

 

Kenneth was born January 14, 1928 and raised in Kansas City.  He graduated from Shawnee Mission Rural High School (now SM North), before joining the Navy “to see the world.”  On his service through Florida he met and married his wife “Kitty” of 61 years.  While stationed in California he found his passion in life, in the martial arts.  Ken achieved many accolades throughout his years in the martial arts including accompanying the U. S. judo team to Japan for the 1964 Olympics.  He served on the national board for the AJJF (American Judo and Jujitsu Federation) as well as the AAU.  Ken founded the Sunflower Judo Club where he taught for over 40 years.  He used the martial arts as a vehicle to share his love of the Lord, his other passion, with his students by always opening and closing each class with a word of prayer.

 

Ken was a proud family man and had a huge love for all of them.  He leaves behind his wife Grace “Kitty;” 2 daughters, Lyn Lowry and Debi Ramsey and the grandson that he raised, Lance Lowry; as well as 4 additional grandchildren, Brian Everard, Joshua Lowry, Rachel Lowry, and Jeremy Lowry;  2 great-grandchildren, Wyatt Lowry and Ava Lowry; plus an extended family consisting of other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as many students and friends.

Friends may call from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.  Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Friday, November 13, 2009 at the chapel.  Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.

Lu Irene Brown

Lu Irene Brown, 87, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away, Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Lakeview Village Health Center.  

 

Mrs. Brown was born in Kansas City, Missouri.  She was a resident of Lakeview Village’s Northpoint and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.  She was a past president of the National Doll Association.  She is also remembered for her rolls in the Barn Players theater productions.  Besides her family and church, these were her two most avid interests: antique dolls and theatre.

 

Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Berge Mesa, Arizona; a son, Douglas Bryant, Moorpark, California; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

 

The family suggests donations to the Arthritis Foundation or Juvenille Diabetes Association.

 

Visitation and Funeral Services

 

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church with burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., Thursday at the church.

“Sweet” Georgia Brown

November 8, 2009

Sweet Georgia Brown, 86, Shawnee,  passed away Sunday, November 8, 2009 at home. 

 

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; 12 siblings; one daughter Barbara Lea; and one grandson Ronnie Ray. Georgia is survived by her husband of 66 years Lee; a son Larry (Vivian);  four grandchildren Kathy (James ) Fisher, Tawnia (Dustin) Koelliker, Michael (Misti) Brown, Brittany Brown; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Albert C. Jones

November 8, 2009

Albert C. Jones, 72, Shawnee, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. 

 

Al was born January 15, 1937 in Eureka, Kansas.  He graduated from Pittsburg State Teachers College with a Bachelor’s Degree in business in 1959.  Al worked for Business Men’s Assurance as an insurance underwriter. He retired in 1987 after 25 years of service.  Al was an avid KU Jayhawks fan and a steadfast Republican. 

 

He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly McCarty, Plattsburg, Missouri; a son Scott Jones and wife Tamara, Prior Lake, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Tyler and Emma Jones; and two brothers Jerry and Bill Bane.  Al is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Jones and Ruth Buchanan; wife Kris Jones and a sister Judy Lawrence.  

 

The family suggests in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Animal Haven, 9800 W. 67th Street, Merriam, Kansas 66203.

 

Visitation and Funeral Service

 

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday November 13, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.  Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery.

 

 

 

Agnes S. Leader

November 7, 2009

Agnes S. Leader, 92, Prairie Village, Kansas (formerly of Laramie, Wyoming) passed away Friday, November 6, 2009 at Brighton Gardens, Prairie Village, Kansas.

 Agnes was born February 23, 1917 in Hanna, Wyoming to Frank and Jeane (Raite) Amoss.  She attended both the Universities of Wyoming and Minnesota and received her bachelor’s degree. On September 18, 1937, Agnes married Daniel Leader in Hanna, Wyoming. Agnes was a member of the Eastern Star, Pythian Sisters, the auxiliary at Ivanson Memorial Hospital, Laramie, Wyoming and was an active volunteer in the community.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel on July 15, 2008.  She is survived by her daughter, Jeane Leader Petersen and her husband, Don, Lenexa, Kansas; two grandchildren, Daniel Petersen and wife, Kristin, Leawood, Kansas and Laurie Pieken and husband, Russ, Overland Park, Kansas; and four great grandchildren, Glen and Jack Petersen and Joseph and Norah Pieken.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 10 at Trinity Anglican Church, 3920 W. 63rd Street, Prairie Village, Kansas 66208.  Friends may call from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2009, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.  Graveside service will be Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Green Hill Cemetery, Laramie, Wyoming.
