Aubrey Bell Speer

Aubrey Bell Speer, 89, died peacefully Sunday, November 22, 2009, surrounded by family, from complications resulting from a fall. 

 

Born in Dallas, Texas, the youngest of 6 children, Aubrey married Louise Nan 61 years ago in Houston, Texas at First Methodist Church where he worked as director of young adult programs and she was a member.  Aubrey continued in his career working in lay positions for the United Methodist Church in different capacities while living in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Washington, D. C., Dallas, Texas and Kansas City where he retired after 27 years as the business administrator and treasurer of the Missouri West Conference. 

 

Aubrey is survived by his wife, children Charles Speer, Rosann Speer, Peggy Shopen, Tim Speer, 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. 

 

The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Luke’s Hospital for their gracious care.  

 

Blessed are those who serve the Lord.  I who have died am alive again today.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Country Club United Methodist Church, 400 W. 57th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64113 or a charity of choice. 

 

Memorial Service

 

Services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2009, 11:00 am at Country Club United Methodist Church.  A reception will follow the service.

    Charlie and family. I was saddened to hear of your father’s death. I remember him from your days of debating for SM North especially. He was a gentle man from whom you developed your own strong character traits. I hope the family is coping well with your loss. I would like to visit with you some day you are in KC for a while.
