Helen M. White

Helen M. White, 91, of Shawnee, Kansas passed away October 2, 2009 at Villa St. Joseph.

 

Helen was born March 7, 1918 in rural Dade County, Missouri, the second child of Jackson and Alma (Moore) Morris.  Her father passed away early in life, after which her mother married Hank Hood and moved to Miller, Missouri.  Helen graduated from Miller High School in 1934 and then attended Draughon’s Business College in Springfield, Missouri.  She was employed by the Federal Government in Washington D.C. in 1936 and married  Joseph A. White in 1937.  She and Joseph moved back to Kansas City in 1946; here they raised their family and she worked for the Federal Aviation Agency for 30 years.

 

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Joseph A. White in 1996 and by a son Thomas White in 2005.

 

She is survived by her daughters, Janet Grim of Omaha, Nebraska and Roxanna Hibbs of Austin, Texas; her sons Donald J. White of Lenexa, Kansas and Stephen P. White of Springfield, Illinois; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation and Funeral Service

 

Friends and family may call from 6:30-8:00 pm, Monday, October 5, 2009, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee with a Rosary recitation at 8 p.m.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee.  Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas.

    I was so sorry to hear about Helen Frances’ death, from Pat Twenter. I firmly believe she is at peace with Uncle Joe and the good Lord. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I wish I lived closer so I could attend her funeral, but can’t at this time.
