Marietta “Mickey” Barnhart

Mickey Barnhart joined her Creator on September 21, 2009, following hip surgery. 

 

She was born in Marion, Kansas on July 11, 1918 to H. D. and Dora Hayward, was graduated from high school in Lost Springs, Kansas and later spent a number of years in Newton, Kansas after her marriage to Berle M. “Barney” Barnhart in 1939.  The family moved to the Kansas City area in 1960.  Until her retirement in 2006, she was a respected greeter at Walmart. 

 

She was preceded in death by her spouse, Barney, and her son, Barry “Lee” Barnhart.  She is survived by her daughter, Beverly J. Olson of Austin, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Barbara A. (Barnhart) Carter of Dunnellon, Florida; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her dog Doxie; and her beloved cat, Lily. 

 

She will also be greatly missed by her many friends, and by her caregivers, Ina Kay Zimmerman of Olathe, and Laurie Emerson of Daughters & Company, Overland Park, Kansas.

    To the Family of Micky. She was a sweetheart and will be greatly miss at Homestead . She love to hear about my grandaughter Emma and I put pic in here room. I used to tease her about babysitting her when I was gone….. May god bless you and keep you
