Lucile M. (Houlehan) Chaney

Lucile M. Houlehan Chaney, 89,  Shawnee, passed away Monday, July 27, 2009 at the Sweet Life at Rosehill. 

 

Lucile was born November 2, 1919 in Shawnee, Kansas to the late Charles Houlehan  and Anna Garrett Houlehan.  Lucile attended Shawnee Mission Rural High and graduated in 1937.  In 1939, Lucile married Lester Chaney, he preceded her in death in 2004. She was a member of the Shawnee United Methodist Church.  Lucile worked in several locations within the Shawnee Mission School District Food Service.  She retired after many years of service. 

 

Three sisters, Kathleen Ott, Marian Huggins, and Virginia Hulse also preceded her in death.  Lucile is survived by her two daughters, Patty (Steve) Mallory, Shawnee, Kansas; and Kathy (Scott) Walsh, Overland Park, Kansas.  Four grandchildren, Brad Mallory, Wichita, Kansas; Jill Jabaay, Lansing, Illinois; Jennifer McKee, Lenexa, Kansas; Carrie Curry, Overland Park, Kansas; and thirteen great grandchildren also survive her.

 

The family suggests Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers be made to the American Cancer Society- Relay for Life. 6700 Antioch Road, Suite 100; Merriam Kansas 66204.

 

Memorial Service

 

A memorial service will be  1 p.m. Thursday, July 30 at  the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.

    I wanted to offer my sympathies to you all since I wasn’t able to make it Thurs for the funeral. I’m so sorry to hear about Aunt Lucille. She will be missed so much.
