Laureano Avilio Prieto, 91, Lenexa, Kansas passed away Friday, July 24, 2009 at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

 

Laureano was born February 22, 1918 in Havana, Cuba.  He moved to Miami, Florida  in 1962 and on December 15, 1962 he and his family settled in Clearwater, Kansas. In 1990, Laureano and his wife, Ana, moved to Lenexa, Kansas to be close to their children.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Orlando Prieto and a stillborn daughter. Survivors include his wife, Ana Prieto of the home; daughter, Ana Taylor, Shawnee, Kansas; son, George A. Prieto and his wife, Juanita, Edwardsville, Kansas; brother, Emilio A. Prieto, Matanzas, Cuba; four granddaughters and four great grandchildren.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to either Holy Trinity Catholic Church or the American Heart Assoc.

 

Visitation and Funeral Mass

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 29 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church; burial in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, where a Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m.

    So sorry to hear of Larry’s passing. He was a sweet and gentle man. Several years ago we had the 4pm Monday time for adoration, following Larry’s hour. He was so kind and understanding when we were running late. And always so pleasant to talk to. Our sincere condolences to the family. May he rest in peace.
