A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Visitation 9-10 a.m. on Saturday at the chapel.

Ralph Harrell

June 17, 2009

Ralph Harrell, 83, of Shawnee, Kansas passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday June 17, 2009.

 

Ralph Was born February 17, 1926 in St. George, Kansas to Ralph and Fae Tinsley Harrell.  He served in the US Marines during WWII.  He graduated from Kansas State University in 1953 receiving a business degree in Accounting.  He started his career as an auditor with Arthur Anderson, then he continued a distinguished 50 year career with Rothenburg & Schloss, and was a member of Sertoma Club of Kansas City since 1960.  The last ten years he enjoyed spending the winters in Tucson, Arizona playing golf and cards with his many friends.  Ralph took great delight in life and loving people.

 

Survivors include his wife Darlene of 20 years; sister Fae and Dean Piper of St. George, Kansas and their children Larry and Deborah Harrell of Perry Kansas; Shirley and Wayne Bland of Edwardsville, Kansas; David Schroeger of Shawnee, Kansas; Jimmy and Hilda Schroeger of Ft. Lewis, Washington; Elicia Holland of Shawnee, Kansas; and many wonderful grandchildren.

 

Duane E. “Butch” Jackman

June 16, 2009

Butch Jackman, 62, of Shawnee, Kansas passed away June 16, 2009.

 

Butch was born November 4, 1946 in Kansas City, Kansas to Robert and Margaret Schulte Jackman.  He grew up in Tipton, Kansas and graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1964.  Butch worked for GM for over 30 years before retiring in 1999.  

 

Butch was preceded in death by his parents and by an infant daughter Carrie.  He is survived by his wife Mary Anne of the home and by his daughters, Janelle Malinowski and husband Louis, and Jennifer Crane and husband Michael.  He also leaves behind five granddaughtes: Alexis, Ashlee, Grace, Madison, and Mekaela.  He is also survived by his two brothers George and Gary Jackman, and many nieces and nephews.

 

Visitation and Funeral Service

 

A visitation will be held Sunday from 6 to 8 pm with a Rosary recited at 7:30 pm at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.  Mass will be held Monday at 10 am at St Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee.   Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Peggy Thompson

Peggy Thompson has joined her husband Paul. Peggy passed away, June 12th, 2009 quietly at home.

 

Peggy was born in Danville, Illinois, on April 12th, 1922, she graduated from Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri.  Peggy served her country during WWII with the WAVES.   After the war, she attended McConnell Air School for hostesses and then onto TWA for three years.  Peggy meet her husband Paul, a TWA pilot and married on December 2, 1950.

 

Peggy devoted her life and love to her family, who will sorely miss her. People fill their homes with many things, Peggy filled hers with love and shared this love with all who entered.

 

Peggy is survived by her two children, Scott, Tracey and her four grandchildren, who will miss her terribly, but carry the love she shared so willingly with them always.

George H. Brink, Jr.

Erma Bernice Ryckert

Erma Bernice Ryckert, 78, Lenexa, Kansas, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Kansas City Hospice House after a yearlong battle with cancer.

 

Bernice was born January 12, 1931 in Olathe, Kansas to Emiel and Mary (Soetaert) Styaert. She was a 1949 graduate of Shawnee Mission High School. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Lenexa Historical Society, VFW Women’s Auxiliary, Kansas City Belgian-American Club, funeral dinner committee at church and worked occasionally at the Johnson County Election Board.  Bernice enjoyed traveling throughout the world, along with working outdoors, particularly with flowers.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Edds and Louise Compton and three brothers, Albert, John and Henry Cashier. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Joseph E. Ryckert; two daughters, Diane Paden and husband, Gary, Lenexa, Kansas and Mary Penny and husband, Howard, Merriam, Kansas; son, Paul Ryckert, Overland Park, Kansas;  two sisters, Margaret Graham, Oro Valley, Arizona and Emma DeCaeny, Overland Park, Kansas; five grandchildren, Matthew Paden and his wife, Shauna, Melissa Franzen and her husband, Tim, Daniel Ryckert, Alissa Ryckert and Bianca Ryckert; and one great granddaughter, Alexa Franzen. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

 

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to either the Holy Trinity Catholic Grade School, Lenexa, Kansas, Lenexa Historical Society or the Kansas City Hospice House.

Milton F. Adams

Milton F. Adams, 82, Overland Park, Kansas passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Villa St. Francis Nursing Center, Olathe, Kansas.

 

 Milton was born January 13, 1927 in Woodbine, Kansas to George and Mamie (Hurst) Adams.  He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII.  Milton worked at the IRS for 20 years, retiring in 1977.  He was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.

 

Milton was preceded in death by his parents and son, James Ronald Adams in 2007. S urvivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruth A. (Finnerty) Adams; son, Fredrick Adams and wife, Barbara, Independence, Missouri; daughter, Diane Katlin and husband, Michael, Lenexa, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Anne Adams, Overland Park, Kansas; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 17 at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church; burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, where a rosary recitation will be at 6:00 p.m.

 

 

 

John C. Lowe II

June 13, 2009

John C. Lowe, 91, of Lake Quivira, Kansas, passed away peacefully June 13, 2009 with his loving family with him.

 

John was born July 8, 1917 in Youngwood, Pennsylvania.  He worked for 50 years for Robertshaw and was a member and resident of Lake Quivira for 59 years.  He will be missed by his loving family. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife, Sally and by his son, John Lowe III.  John is survived by his daughter Sherry Offutt, and by his grandsons: Bob Offutt and wife Jenny, and Johnny Lowe and his wife Jan; by his granddaughters Christy Winsinger and husband Randy and Deborah Cottle and husband Walter; and by eight great-grandchildren.

 

Contributions in John’s memory may be made in lieu of flowers to Animal Haven, 9800 W. 67th St., Merriam, Kansas 66203.

 

Graveside Service

 

Graveside services will be held Thursday, June, 18, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. at the Monticello Union Cemetery located at 23860 W. 75th St., Shawnee, Kansas 66227.

Jamey Granato

June 12, 2009

Jamey L. Granato, 34, born August 7, 1974, passed away on June 9, 2009.

 

Jamey was a loving husband, father, son, and brother he will always be remembered for his kind and gentle heart.

 

He is survived by his wife Kim, daughter Carly, sons Jackson and Payton, father Jack, mother Andrea, sister Jodi and beautiful nieces Annie and Bella.
